http://news.scotsman.com/news/Celtic-fans39-IRA-chants-drove.6831927.jp Nevin explains how he was driven away from Celtic Park because of IRA chants. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't like the IRA chants and I've no time for the whole Irish thing. Frankly it gets on my nerves (apart from when it's useful for winding up Rangers fans and CieranAdroynian). But this was the same twonk who claimed Celtic fans were singing pro-IRA songs during the Scottish Cup final only for it to be later confirmed that no such thing occured. I also find it funny that the bloke from the RST has claimed that Rangers fans are being persecuted and suggests that they will complain about all offensive chants, singing etc. directed at them, regardless of whether they are religioulsy motivated or not. What a prick. If this whole issue has proved anything it's that everyone wants to be a part of it and very few of them have anything worth adding.
The mock offence gives ****s like him the sense of importance. Why can't we just all accept that at football games, people act like ****ers to wind you up, if you bite, they win. Stop getting offended and grow a set of balls. This is not ****ing Ireland and the more you whine, the more tensions are heightened and the more like Ireland we become. It's a game of football FFS, so **** if they call me a DOB or I call you a FB. The extremists were being marginalised, but this bollocks has given them legitimacy. "Itsh me kulchoor" Suck my stinking rancid bulbous cock
Nevin in moral high ground shocker. I am totally against IRA songs at Celtic park but I would never stop supporting Celtic because of them. When exactly was the last time Nevin actually went to CP for a game?
I don't know what age Nevins kid was when he had this epiphany but funny how it didn't seem to bother him for the 20+ years he supported Celtic prior to that, maybe it was the first time he'd ever been to watch 'the club he loved'? Unless he thinks listening to those songs has adversely affected himself in some way then what's the problem? If you're brought up in a decent family then you shouldn't have anything to worry about imo.
To be fair he only said he would mention sectarianism when he heard it. Homophobia, allegations of sexual impropriety by players, the mocking of the dead or equally offensive chants are on his "to do" list.
Or not heard it as the case may be. You read one Dostoevsky 25 years ago and the "smart man of football" tag sticks forever
