The Truth About Drugs in Football Dispatches investigates the use of both recreational and performance-enhancing substances in our national game. Reporter Antony Barnett examines football's drug-testing regime, raises questions about how the sport deals with its drug cheats and also looks at the use of some bizarre but legal treatments players undergo. It's not promising to name any names but should be interesting.
Normally a good watch, however i think legal reasons will prevent any names coming out as usual, but will no doubt put more scrutiny on those involved to crack down.
I really hope its better than the last one i watched about trying to buy two clubs. That one was ****!
That one was a bit weak, other than being mildly embrassing for Bryan Robson, it was hardly ground breaking. In fact, the statement that Leicester issued after the programme was more entertaining.
I don't think these programmes should be judged by how ground breaking they are. It's more important to expose the people who are willing to flout the rules and to encourage the authorities to do more to stop the crooks.
I doubt it will be Bullard, but it seems they're naming and shaming a load of players... A top Premier League footballer who tested positive for cocaine is set to be named tonight in a Channel 4 investigation into drug use among soccer stars. The player, who will be exposed in the channel's Dispatches, completed a ‘multi-million-pound’ transfer without the buying club knowing he had tested positive for cocaine. The sportsman is among dozens of English professional footballers who will be named and shamed for failing out-of-competition drug tests that have never been made public by the FA. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ame-player-cocaine-tonight.html#ixzz1XkppZOPE
Will be a great watch by the sound of it. Can you imagine the outrage in another sport like Cycling if 260 people didn't turn up to drugs tests? It would be headline news.
I thought the programme about buying clubs was interesting, especially when they listed some of the "owners" of clubs and how easy it was to breach FIFA/FA rules, showed how little the FA and FIFA are really doing in controlling who owns clubs. Interestingly there is a special report on SSN at 19:30hrs about match corruption too Personally will watch both, however think I will be falling further out of love with "professional" football, those who run it, and those who profit from it
