Well not to sound Callous, but surely as he hasn't played a game for Cardiff, Nantes will have to refund the money or wont be expecting Cardiff to pay any instalments.
Why would Nantes have to pay? It's not their fault either. I would imagine Cardiff will have insurance.
Most football transfers are done on instalments, so I'd think it'd be gentlemanly to refund what has been paid and not ask for any future instalments. Its hardly fair for Nantes to expect Cardiff to stump up the cash for a player who is no longer alive.

A deal is a deal and they'll expect payment regardless. It's Cardiff's issue as, whether he played for them or not, he was their player. None of this scenario is fair

It would be madness. So Nantes is out £15m (their entire squad is valued at £85m) just so an insurance company saves money on paying out? That £15m would probably end up as a nice bonus for the insurance execs.
Surely Cardiff have already paid and will be covered by insurance or they pay in instalments and it's covered by insurance.
