I knew I could not win in the Doncaster 4:50. I am pleased I was not in a position to have a bet in the race as I backed Kevin Ryan’s Louis The Pious (third at Newmarket) and was put off Lightning Cloud (second at Ascot) last time, so one of them was bound to oblige. At least the spoils went to the one that did not owe me money as I would probably have done Dettori on the one that did. As I scarcely ever do forecasts there is no way I can claim that I have missed the £37.10 Exacta or the £39.26 CSF.
Always the risk with Novice Chasers - Nearby's jumping cost him. Great ride by son of Twister . that thing has been winning over 2m4f and 2m6f, great performance to get up over 2m. Sam put Nearby under pressure to expose cracks in his jumping and it worked.
Cheers Nass - I see some of the names are from fugees and the old 606 !!! What is it with Donny today and the stalls ?? So many horses missing the break !!! Poxy Rocket Rob !!!
Barney, that old boy will never win a race again. He should have won today, somehow he manages to throw it away. Good EW selection mind.
And yet again ....................... 2nd. Why oh why did they give Cygnet such a soft lead? Great ride by Henry Brooke on the winner - good to see him getting some good rides while Jason Maguire is injured
He ran well Oddy...just looks like the h'capper may have his measure now..not sure young Henry knew a lot about that leap at the last, the horse came up a stride earlier than he expected, but it was an excellent ride. Well done all those who struck gold today. Just read through the thread and it looks like one of the most successful ever...great stuff lads.
2nd has gone in the notebook Dexter, looked a right chase prospect for M Keighley. Anyone got the ATR tipping table then?
Well just read through todays posts and i have to say some top selections posted today... Even i hit a few winners...!!! Lets hope for more of the same for tom... Well done to all who took a bite out of the bookies today...
Didn't see the race Nass...will review later but I notice he is a 3 time point winner, and not on bottomless ground, like so many imports. Agree, worth keeping an eye on. I'm currently scavenging down the back of the sofa to find some more cash to stick on Alanza tomorrow..can't see anything but a win and 7/2 with Hills is outstanding value..the straight course will see this filly at her best.Very classy, improving and underestimated filly.
I really like Rex Imperator tomorrow in the big sales race, think that three runner race was always going to be against him and I think this is just what he needs. Taken 14s EW
Big thanks to Nass who made me have a second look at Humidor and ultimately made me put him up as a selection so all credit goes to you! Ended up putting up the tricast in that race but unfortunately didn't back it. Quite disappointed Kathlatino was a N/R as I had her in a very nice double with Humidor but c'est la vie! Next time out I'll be on
No problem, well done for backing it! My last bet of the day - 7.20 Hereford Boy I think its returning to form and this trip is what I think it needs. Nicely drawn and I think 10/1 is a very fair EW price. Catchanova is a danger but the handicapper must catch up with it at some point.
Really thinking about trying the old place betting after this run of 2nds. I scour the stock markets for a 10% - 20% oportunity and they are staring me in the face each day with 1.10 - 1.20 tote place bets. Does anybody have any experience of doing this?
Oddy - Its a strange one the place betting to me... i never feel totally comfortable with it as i always feel like im doing myself out of something. Its either a straight win or a longish 8/1 or greater e/w... Even in a combo of doubles or a patent i feel better than the place betting odds... Dont know really i suppose its down to how the individual feels... I can see your hitting the right picks, but they are just coming up short on you... I am sure you will hit a run soon pal, ive seen your tipping before, your not picking donkeys...!!! Stick with it pal...
