In All honesty what do you expect him to say in public - we may well need him in the coming weeks so what would Poch really gain from telling the media that he was poor today which may further erode is obviously fragile confidence. I am sure in private they will talk and Llorente will know Pochs true feelings.

Having a dig at a player in public seldom ends well.

Don’t take everything I say literally mate <ok>

But worth noting Poch has no issue repeatedly saying Janssen is not in his plans publicly. A player we paid a handsome sum for, and way more than Nando.

Live each moment as if it was your last. Very commendable.....but it does tend to interfere with washing up, ironing and the like,

One thing that's being overlooked is that Winks started and finished the move for our winner

...we're getting another few days of calling him "Winksiesta", aren't we?

I was going to comment about this but didn’t want to make DH feel too bad now that Harry Winks is the best thing since sliced bread.

Hopefully we’ll see better from him now Dier is back to do some of the legwork and defensive work in midfield. I’m not blind to his faults but I really want Winksy to make it big with us.

    Sorry, I mean Winksiesta

better than doing what some do and publicly slag off the players and then expect them to deliver a good performance next time out...even if he was really poor

I noticed that too. Winks passes the ball then runs off camera and is then picked up running into the penalty area. Center forward (ours) please note!

When Dier came on today, that just happened to be his 200th appearance for the club.

Who’d have thought when we paid £4m for some unknown ‘foreign’ Englishman CB, he’d go on to become one of our most important players and best DMs in recent memory?

    Gwaaaarn, Eric!

Was 793 days since Winks last scored against West Ham.

Only 792 more days til his next one. Booooom!

All seriousness, I truly am happy for Winks. I’ve often said he’s a cracking bloke but unfortunately I just don’t rate him as a player. I’ll happily eat humble pie if he does indeed become “Winkiesta” but I just can’t see that happening.

DH it's like old fashioned mechanical clocks ( a thing of beauty) They have a decorative front, sometimes very elaborate and at the back they have the key to make it go. In the heart of the movement they have the balance wheel which makes the whole thing tick. Watching a balance wheel is not exciting but without it nothing works properly.
    Winks is a balance wheel.

Eriksen is the one that makes us tick. Modric held that role before him.

Winks isn’t in their mould, mate. He’s not creative or adventurous enough to be labelled as someone who makes us tick.

I’m genuinely buzzing for the lads’ heroics today but if we’re using clock analogies, then I’d say Winks’ match winning heroics is akin to the saying of “even a broke clock is right twice a day”.

To add on to my post above. I’ll explain why I’m not a Winks fan.

I think for Spurs to see the best of Winks, we need to play a three-man midfield with him as the middle man.

Winks is someone who generally tends to prefer staying around the centre circle. He’s not a defensive mid, nor is he an attack-minded CM. But where he could excel is if he’s the “man in the middle” and I mean that literally. He could thrive as the link up player, in terms of getting the ball from Dier, to then retaining possession if need be or laying it off to the more attack-minded CM or an AM.

I think as a two-man CM, he can’t really cut it to what we truly need. He’s not defensively astute enough like Dier to play as the DM - even though he does work incredibly hard to try and win the ball - whilst he’s not creative or adventurous enough to ever fill the gap left by Modric or Dembele.

This is why I often find myself getting worked up with him. He doesn’t do what I feel we really need him to do on a regular basis. Today was one of the first games in yonks where he’s really driven forward and that was mainly out of desperation for the goal. Kudos for him to doing so but we need more of that in a 90 minute game.

Modric did I'm not sure Eriksen does. Eriksen produces some very creative moves mostly from forward positions but he is not a work horse kind of player or even a play maker most of the time. That's why we need a Winks type and a Dembele type. Modric's role is split in this current team.
