http://www.skysports.com/tv_show/story/0,,12382_7150337,00.html Just saw this. Makes sense to me. What do you think?
He has so much left on his contract that if he doesn't buck his ideas up he will have a long lonely time to contemplate his career drifting away. I am sure with the Euros approaching and wanting to keep his value up, he will put a shift in now the window is firmly closed. It is not in his interests to come over all Berbatovy. His bargaining position is nowhere near as strong.
Well he certainly looked good for Croatia (great goal),so lets hope he just gets on with it. As for me i´m not saying another word about the whloe saga.Except ...........................!!!????.
Fair play Levy stuck to his word. Not sure we bid anywhere near 40 mill to be honest but Tottenham were holding most of the cards and we had to accept defeat. I like Modric as a player but giving Spurs 40mill for him would of been crazy. Think we did ok getting meireles for 12 mill completley different player to Modric but will be useful none the less. Obviously there is no love lost between us and Spurs but i hope they can finish abouve those bloody deluded "king Kenny we trust" scousers. Got to be the most annoying fans in the land
Not very often I agree with a Chelsea fan. But, spot on. Personally, I think this King Kenny lot should be registered as some sort of loony cult, like The Moonies.
Even a Chelsea fan thinks 40 million was nuts, hence the reason I believe Spurs should have taken it.
Why is it so difficult for you to accept that not everything is about the cashola? This is reason why some call West Ham /Chelsea fans classless, surely you realise there is a much greater value attached to key players than how much they would fetch in a transfer market.
Not my money so the actual figure is irrelevent. What i would of disagreed on is paying a massively inflated fee which doesnt reflect the players ability. Like i said i like Modric but giving you 40 mill and then letting you sign players like Cahill and the brazilian striker Damiao would of made Spurs a better team in my opinion. To be honest i think Chelsea handled it all wrong, our chief exec is a complete tool even more seedy than Peter Kenyon if thats possible. We walked off with our tails between our legs but fortunately we got lucky and Liverpool threw us a lifeline in the shape of Meireles.
We can buy them without Money for Modric,Damiao's club don't want to sell yet (Same as us +modric),and we do't think Cahill is worth what Bolton want for him(same as Arsenal)
Have to agree with most of what you say here LAJF, except for the part about us selling Modric making us a better team. Even if we let him go early in the window and spent the money wisely, it would unsettle our better remaining players and we'd just be waiting for someone to pick them off. When those new signings had proved themselves, then we'd be back in the same position again, waiting for one of the teams that we're supposed to be competing with to bid for them. The Mereiles deal was an exceptionally poor move by Liverpool. Selling you the player that you needed so late in the window and for reasonable cash, too. Odd.
I have to back PNP on that point too LAJF, Bale would then come under extreme pressure in Jan, and so on, and so on. A new one for Spurs I know, but keeping him signals intent to the rest of the squad, not too bothered by everyone elses opinion otherwise, and anyone thinking of perhaps using us as a stepping stone should think again.
