QPR winger eyes loan switch Sep 7 2011 By Jacob Murtagh NEIL Warnock has promised to refund any loan fee paid for Lee Cook if he gets crocked. The former Watford star is hoping to get some game time elsewhere when the loan window opens tomorrow having been left out of QPR's 25-man squad list submitted to the Premier League. Cook has been dogged by injury problems in recent years, but is back to fitness and featured for the reserves in a behind-closed-doors friendly with West Ham this afternoon. âWeâre happy to pay back any loan fee paid for Lee Cook to a club that takes him if he breaks down during the loan period,â said boss Warnock. âNobodyâs worked harder pre-season, and if clubs are worried about Leeâs fitness, they should know it wonât cost them anything, and they could still get a very good player." A 6 month loan for Cookie to the championship and getting the chance to prove his fitness could see hm get back into the 25 man squad if the Puncheon loan doesnt work out. I still think he could be an asset for the club.
As much as i love Cooky i cant see he getting into the team now a loan deal to the championship might just prove one way or another,if he rips it up great if not he will always be a Ranger.
personally, whilst Cookie and Rowly SHOULD go on loan to a championship team, if thy come to Bournemouth till Jan then they will help the Cherries climb the table. I only say Bournemouth as I am a QPR living down here that doesn't always get that may opportunities to get to LR due to the weird hours I work
Sadly, I think he'll never be the player he was before his injury. I think he'd be a good acquisition for a League 1 or 2 club.
Good move by Warnock. I really hope Cooky finds a Championship club that will have enough confidence to play him in the first team, or at least as a regular sub. The odds are against him coming back as he was, but let's not write him off yet...
It's not just our love for Cookie that counts here, it's more his love for QPR that makes him a really special case. If you remember, when he was fit, at the top of his game and a saleable commodity, we were forced to sell him to Fulham to help pay the bills. As a massive R, Cookie donated his £250k signing on fee to this club to help make ends meet. That's a first and what a guy! Now the boot's on the other foot, Warnock's offer to cover any injuries is quite frankly the least we can do. I'd really like to see him paid back in some way... perhaps a minority shareholding for a real R?
All of those who have not made the squad really need to get out there and play then they will be able to show clubs what they can (still) do and get match fit. Hopefully they will be able to move on in January. There is no place for them in the squad. If anyone leaves, or is deemed "not up to scratch", Warnock will have the chequebook out again in the January window. He can buy better. All of those in that position, Agyemang, Ephraim, Rolands and Cook included have served the club (some better than others over the years) but now is the time to move on.
Lee Cook great servant for us in his time wonderful player but the truth was clear to see at Crawley Town. And that i am afraid is where he would get 90 minutes today Leagues 1/2. I would love to cookie get a job with the youth set up as a big thank you.
Well rangercol, He WAS NOT b-----KS WHEN HE gave OUR CLUB £250,000 FROM HIS OWN POCKET!! Yes he will never play for the club again, but let us not forget what he did! I think that remark from rangercol was unnecessary and in bad taste!!
Glad he's getting some good treatment with his best interests at the centre of any deals. Well, we don't know what goes on behind closed doors but it looks like he really wants to get Cook some football.
