Yeah but Bowen has now had two good consistent seasons. He is worth at least 10 mill. He is now worth a punt by a prem club. We are not a selling club. Like I say, I have got a bad feeling about this transfer window.
I think we’re far more likely to lose Grosicki this window, than Bowen, despite Bowen being the better player.
He will go in summer if we don't go up, unless someone bids £15m+ in jan and if that happened 95% of owners would accept
You could well be right although I suspect if either is sold it will be late on, money banked and no time for adequate replacements. Sounds familiar to me. Hope I am wrong. Nige just doesn’t deserve it after what he has achieved in recent weeks.
We’ve already signed Grosicki’s replacement though haven’t we - Milinkovic. Not a like for like replacement, admittedly.
Just watched the highlights, and on the whole, it looked as if we had more chances than Villa to score even though in the second half they pressed us hard. Martin was unlucky with that chance in the final minutes of the game, though the keep made a good save. James Chester to a large degree was the reason Villa got a point, scored one and hooked on off the line saving a definite goal. Nice to see Chezzy did an Okay celebration when scoring, not over the top but acknowledged to the home crowd that he had scored. I guess the only players he might know from his time with us would be Bowen and Mckenzie who were around at the time,
**** of the day award for Hourihane yesterday for the drop ball which he decided to pass to a Abrahams in an attacking position rather than pass it back to Marshall
I think you're right but certainly think he had more detractors than admirers yesterday, and must say I was one of them. I get that he has some potential qualities that Campbell doesn't have - i.e in theory holding the ball up and winning it in the air, but yesterday as at Millwall two weeks ago his first touch was often very poor and the guy never seems to jump. Combined with his lack of pace which means he cant get on the end of crosses like Campbell can , and his lack of mobility which means he doesn't make a run to offer an outlet or put any pressure on opposition back four, I think he was a real weakness yesterday in an otherwise very creditable team effort.
Yet another member of personnel OOC at the end off the season....!!! I wonder if Boy Blunders Polo Horse Trainer has a new contract yet...
What did you expect ? It's Aston Villa- the ****s of the Midlands, which is already a ****ish part of the country.
I have to say I don't think he was bad yesterday in some regards, he did win us a lot of throw ins in good positions. I think the main problem is he lacks pace and when we break with Grosicki and Bowen he just can't keep up. Not his fault he has never been that type of player. Three times I think Grosicki played good balls across and he just wasn't there. We need a bit of pace upfront as we aren't a team to whip balls in for him to head in, we are a team to that puts low drilled balls into the box. We play a certain way and a lot of what we do doesn't suit him. Doesn't make him a bad player, you clearly don't score the amount of goals he has by being a bad player.
And that's why most of us loathe Villa and their gobshite fans - fantastic stadium but, that's yer lot.
