We badly need someone with class and composure on the ball in midfield. I think Woods would have been ideal but that ship has sailed.

Gunner is struggling big time in the DM role.

Im sure we are not going to get the player we need and it will send us down. Im not that bothered about that but if we do we need a major think on who we recruit because Ralls will be the only recognised CM at the club.

Agree we need a right back as well. BUT the way that midfield 3 performed v Huddersfield we could sign Kane and still go down.

Agree there nin, commitment without being silly.
Some championship clubs have spent as much as we have and are mid table. One prem club has spent 3 times what we have and are still below us.
I feel if we get the sala deal over the line it might be enough to keep us up.
Anyone else would be a bonus.

Been saying for a while that we need to create more from midfield rather than relying on optimistic punts hoping to win second balls.

We have no string-puller capable of turning defences with a telling pass. We either hit it long or depend upon "one on ones" on the flanks with the likes of NML and Murphy to get behind the opposition and do the damage.

Getting Niasse and Sala on board is massive, but midfield is still the key - these new recruits need playing in and that remains a problem.

Need to look for someone who doesn't figure in a manager's plans - I'd still have a go for someone like Cairney from Fulham who Ranieri doesn't rate.

If it’s right we’ve exhausted our PL loans (Arter and Niasse) then it’s either a loan from a different league or a purchase.

Warnock seems confident he’ll get more players in but Cairney surely would only be interested in a better placed club.

Fingers crossed he can land the players needed to boost our season.

Also what about the PL 25 squad. He’s got to make room for any new players. Is Damour going? Looks like he’ll keep Connelly for defensive cover.

Ps. if we’d got Clyne we couldn’t have got Niasse?

From being the main cog in Fulham's midfield, Cairney has been shuffled to one side by Ranieri. He's not deteriorated, just doesn't feature like before.

In all honestly, he'd probably have a better chance of staying in the Prem with us.

I don't think Cahill wants to go there for the same reason you suggest Cairney wouldn't want to come here - fear of going down.

The Sala saga has been a strange protracted affair with many twists and turns. Has he now signed? I haven't seen anything on the official site.

@Sparky, given NW stating "Why risk him" regarding his omission from the squad yesterday, yet he risked Paterson and Camarasa last week!
Maybe i am over analysing the inconsistencies in NW statements, who knows.

I think Colin is quite adept at diversionary tactics. He's largely consistent in his approach, but sometimes his statements are less plausible.
Perhaps he's over playing his hand.

It will be a shame if Arter goes as he gives us energy and bite in midfield which no one else in the squad can do - plus good Prem experience.

While we certainly need more creativity we also need Arter's qualities and it would be hard to find someone with both.

Indeed an extra more defensive midfielder (to alternate with or replace Gunnar who is looking very weary) would allow Camarasa to play a more forward role to give us that creativity.

I don't know what sort of cash Bournemouth want for Arter but it may be wanted to help finance Mepham's purchase. I can't see them loaning him to Watford as they are direct competitors in their mini league .

If Arter stays I guess he won't be available for the Cherries game at ours under his loan terms.

Surely we have a clause in place to deny a recall? Surely?

WOL did make that assumption but the most recent I've heard is that there IS a recall cluse which can be activated only in the January window.

Whispers abound - some as far as to say that he's talking to Watford over terms. His permanent home is in London and it would make family life easier.
