You don't need VAR to stop that though, just A FA with a backbone. Dish out a few 3 match bans and it will soon disappear from the game.
It's ****ing awful at the match, sucks all the emotion out and you can't even celebrate goals anymore as they review every goal. I suppose at least on tv your getting replays etc whereas at the match you're just watching 22 players stood around looking at each other. It's farcical and will ruin football as a live spectacle.
Plus I think the world cup proved that if anything it will encourage it rather than stamp if out. Non contact sport in the box incoming.
