Respect to everyone who has resurrected this club, and achieved promotion on negligable resources. The fact that we are meeting them on more or less equal terms reflects how well and badly run the respective clubs have been over the last few years. Mike Harding reckons the town never recovered from the Great War, when all the young men volunteered and only a handful returned; he wrote a powerful song about it. I digress. Hopefully Dillon Phillips will keep his place, have a clean sheet and we get 3 points. Any else going?
Hopefully the fans paying tomorrow get a concession, less money for Dushitelet. Basildon v Brentwood anyone?
I was going, but I'm feeling poorly at the moment. Slogged my way through work like the trooper that I am, but feel totally drained right now. Need some serious rest. So I'm giving it a miss.
Sorry to hear you're sick Mr Lardi, but from a negative you should always get a positive. Dushitelet does not get your money. Get well soon Sir.
Sorry Elfs, must admit RD had my season ticket money nine months ago But it's the thought that counts Come On You Addicks! Give 'em a beating...
I have not felt well for about two weeks. Doctor doesn't know what it is. Had a chest X-ray today and am awaiting results. Will be going to The Valley tomorrow because I am a double hard bastard.
@Clb74 sits in the Covered End lower, look for him if you need resuscitating. He has a medical first aid certificate.
From Wiki …… Approximately 700 men from the Accrington Pals went into action on 1 July 1916; 585 men became casualties, 235 killed and 350 wounded in about half an hour. The battalion's commander, Lieutenant-Colonel A. W. Rickman, was among the wounded. A rumour spread around Accrington that only seven men had survived from the battalion, and an angry crowd surrounded the mayor's house, demanding information. The Accrington Pals were effectively wiped out in a matter of minutes on the first day on the Somme.
I’m not going today. My horrible, abiding memory of Accrington away earlier this season was @baraettmattesvensson storming out of their ground in a strop when they equalised. And there was still 20 mins of the game remaining Get well soon @DickPlumb and @lardiman
At least I left content that the £20 ticket I got you for your mate invisible mate Chippy ensured that you fed your son and you.
Don’t do it @AllHellLetLoose Elfs will be counting the away fans in when he goes to the Valley to buy his programmes later
