Chelsea game from my hazy/beaky recollection we scored, wasn't given and they went up the other end and scored
There was VAR though, I don't remember us having a goal disallowed though or it even being used at all.
I remember now (with help from Google). Austin put the ball over the line but was judged to have fouled their keeper after the keeper jumped into him. The official rule apparently is that you can't touch a keeper whilst he is in the air regardless of whether or not they jump into you or you into them, so it was correctly not given, but the rule is bull ****.
Fan aggression (from both home and away fans); I used to sit in the Northam near the away fans, but got sick of the amount of aggressive posturing from chavvy pr**ks, desperate to show everyone how "hard" they are, especially when protected by police segregation and a healthy number of seats. Fans getting on the backs of particular players and only seeing the negative, regardless of how they are playing.
This is it for me too, particularly if there's an obviously racist or abusive element to it. I almost never noticed anything like it when I went to St Mary's regularly, but I'm sure it's there and it wouldn't take much to surface again. That is the sort of stuff that makes dads decide not to bother bringing their kids the next week, which naturally is the aim of the racists because they want to be in control. Note: I go like, once a season anyway so maybe "living at the other end of the country" is my real answer.
I just don't understand how people can be so angry for 90 minutes??? They must enjoy it because they pay to do it. Sometimes I'm not really sure if I'm from the same planet as some people.
Having gone to just about every home game and quite a number of away games over the last forty years through thick and a lot of thin the only thing that would stop me going would be serious ill health.
(Austrian) Ralph leaving and us replacing him with an inexperienced Manager from a mid-table little club in La Liga....
Yeah I quite enjoy the banter going back and forth but there's plenty who don't even go to watch the game. Loads of dick heads (both sides but mainly them) at the Leicester cup game. Like you I find it utterly bizzare.
Indeed. I live in hope that, one day the stewards and police might step back and say "go ahead, be my guest; get stuck in, kids". My prediction? No-one would go across the gap. Vin
Of course they wouldn’t. It’s just like benobo monkeys posturing and beating their chests at each other; no one is going to get hit. Except at Millwall maybe, and I don’t think we’ll have to worry about that for a while. The atmosphere in grounds would be dead without the fans winding each other up. 90% take the whole thing as tongue in cheek I reckon. There’s always a few people who can’t control their emotions though; and not always youngsters either.
Driving from south west Wales on my own is generally stopping me now If only I had a chauffeur... I didn't enjoy being a fan when Souness was manager, just didn't like him and I'd have a problem with Moaninho as well but I'll never stop supporting Saints. Sponsored by a betting company? Wouldn't particularly bother me as long as we didn't have to change the name of the stadium! (Bet365 stadium ) Changing the kit/name would be weird more than anything but again, I don't think I'd care that much although seeing how Cardiff fans hated the changes that Vincent Tan wanted to make I maybe would mind if it happened... Bottom line? I'll always be a Saints supporter but seeing as I hardly make any games, I suppose I'm not really one to answer your question
