I'll be in France next week, but on Friday morning I've got my next appointment with the neurology nurse. It was originally supposed to be on 29th, once I'm back but still off work - it being moved to my last day at work before my holiday isn't great, and I only found out on Monday. If it's been moved so she can speak to me about going skiing, it was unnecessary as jerzeypie and I aren't going now. He's currently at my Mum and he'll be collecting me from Gatwick on Friday night, so we can get the boat from Dover ridiculously early on Saturday before driving down to my ex-father-in-law. My e-f-I-l was supposed to be looking out for midweek deals for skiing, but he said that he won't be joining us. The purpose of jerzeypie going was to see his Grandad - if we were to go skiing for a few days without him, it would go against that, so we're spending just over a week relaxing in the Charente-Maritime instead.
Morning all, lovely bright sunshine, although we did have rain overnight. It looks as if my trip to the baker will be the highlight of the morning. It is always a pleasure to go into the shop and smell fresh bread, and look at the patisserie. Baking twice a day with an early start makes it a long day for the baker and his wife, but they are always cheerful with time to have a few words with the customers.
Nothing beats the smell of a nice French bakery in the morning... I have a serious weakness for religieuses au chocolat and also fruit flans...
Good morning all from a cool and dry Weston-super-Mare! Have a good day OFH since my procedure on Monday, I seem to be tired all the time. I guess it's a reaction to the anesthetic, this morning I woke at 0330 and went back to sleep.
Morning all from a frosty rural France. Yesterday afternoon I had reason to go through Le Dorat, one of the small towns that are in the area. It is dominated by the huge church that sits on top of a hill that has a history going back over a thousand years, and was a great seat of learning through the Middle Ages. Today much of the economy is built around tourism and the history of the town, but yesterday I was taken by the huge banners that had appeared telling me to make a note in the diary for the 4th July. What celebration is being planned for the summer? Not the French, not the European, but the World Championship for sheep shearing. No wonder the fields seem to have more of the animals than ever.
Don't know if you watched the 1st half Dave which was good, but the 2nd half was very scrappy and not entertaining. Still another 3 points to the haul.
Good morning all from a cold and wet Weston-super-Mare! Have a good day I don't have Sky or BT so I can't watch matches live I have to rely on comments on not606 or BBC website
Morning all. Overnight rain and although that has passed over it is quite breezy and more showers are forecast. I have been hearing from an English friend of how his wife was out the other day in his lovingly restored 2CV when she encountered a wild boar coming out of the woods. She saw it in plenty of time, so stopped to let it cross the road. The animal must have been feeling rather grumpy, and instead of carrying on, decided to charge the car. When it met the front wheel that didn't move, it backed off, but on inspection the metal wheel was buckled and had to be replaced. One rather shaken wife, and one boar with a sore nose.
Was the 2CV seen as a rival [emoji203]?! Oh.. And a great win Dave.. You can almost dare to dream! Sent from my F8331 using Tapatalk
