6 straight wins hasn't been done since 1910 We've put ourselves in a position where we thought we'd never be I hope they can give it a real go
As thrilled as I am with the current run of results I still can't quite get my head around the notion of making the playoffs after how the season started. If we can get through January without selling players, and if we get one or two in, followed by let's say 4 points from the Villa and Blackburn games I might start to believe. Here's hoping...
I still reckon the last week in January will be fraught with worry as Premier league vultures circle overhead in an attempt to pick off the likes of Bowen and possibly Grosicki...hoping the Allams stick to their word isn’t a comfortable feeling to have. Nevertheless,a couple of additions, our wing wonders still in situ and it’s on...IF we can stay reasonably injury-free and opposing teams don’t manage to suss us out and counteract our attacking nous. Sure beats worrying about relegation* though.... *still mathematically possibly at this stage.
It's actually six straight wins in the top two divisions that hasn't been done since 1910. We had six wins on the bounce not that long ago (under Taylor).
we won 10 in a row in 1948 comprised of the last game of the 47/48 season and the first 9 of the 48/49 season. in 2004/5 there were 8 successive wins in League 1 (with a cup win thrown in for good measure).
I few people may be getting a bit carried away. Suppose there’s nothing wrong with that. But nige is currently working miracles with a squad we all expected to struggle to stay up this season. Mid table obscurity would be a fantastic achievement. I feel our lack of strength in depth will put pay to any realistic play off challenge. Obviously hope I’m wrong come May
How do you think our squad now compares to the 2007/8 team? Myhill Ricketts Turner Brown Dawson Garcia Ashbee Hughes Barmby Windass Campbell I remember thinking at the time that it was all down to teamwork and effort etc that got us up, but looking at the above as an example of that squad it looks pretty good to me.
Can't remember the ruin during 2008, but our last 5 are pretty tough this time round.. Boro away Wba away SU home Swansea away Bristol home That's a tall order if we are trying to squeeze on or hang onto the playoffs.
I think that’s exactly how you would want it if you were a serious play off contender. Every win knocks back a rival, with the exception of Swansea I’d guess.
The way we’re playing at the moment I don’t think any opposition in this division hold any fears for City, they must truly believe that they can currently beat anyone that’s put in front of them. Long may it continue.
It was all so innocent then, still had a season pass / attended , didn't 'dislike 'the owners, the promised land seemed so and 'exciting' , my car still had a CD player and not ****ing Bluetooth ...
And paper reckoned when we got promoted it would mean more visiting yachts moored in Marina. and hundreds of weekend stays for every home game. Like Championship fans can't afford weekends away.
Can it be that it was all so simple then? Or has time re-written every line? If we had the chance to do it all again, tell me, would we? Could we?
