Is not all about Karius ffs ... Do you miss the days of King Kenny's triple back flip, double somersault, pike, shark dance and lifted t-shirt tribute to Mother Theresa, goal celebrations? ... or are you too young to remember them?
I personally don't like it no (same as diving/keeping ball in corner) but the point is I was told that reviewing every goal won't slow it down because the goal celebrations take just as long if not longer. That's quite clearly not the case. Btw in that example too it would still take considerably less time than some of the goals last night.
This is a silly argument, a bit of celebrating does no harm and is part of the fun. Going OTT or taking too long is already dealt with. Problem with VAR is that every goal will be questioned and players and fans will start looking to see if it's allowed before celebrating, this will affect the game in a negative way.
I dunno, I just think it's an idea worth pursuing to see if the game benefits from it...if it fails we will just blame the fans in the Far East...what they don't know won't kill them.
... but every goal won't be questioned .... shoot from 20 yards into the top corner and VAR can easily review within the goal celebration / back to centre circle time ... and you will go up when the ball hits the back of the net whether it subsequently gets disallowed or not ... celebrate to the whistle
Trying to take on board the decades of moaning from everyone about how the game needs technology in order to improve it.
Tbf mate, most "fans" who are in favour probably don't attend games, so don't really get the celebrations bit.
Have been attending games for 50 years ... seen us diddled by cheats and incompetent officialdom several times - anything that rules that out is a positive for me ... They have had something similar in Rugby for years - doesn't seem to stop the fans celebrating the initial "try" ... even when they then go to the video ref
If it worked then fine but it doesn't, some will say that it will get better but when? It's been around a while now and it keeps ****ing up everytime it's used. Hawkeye goal line technology has proved a success so keep that and it improves the game.
Agreed the game has its flaws and unless there is something that undoubtedly improves the game leave it alone. VAR has already shown that it doesn't improve the game...Hawkeye has been a success and it improves the game.
You don;t like it because it'll stop the cheats like Salah and Gerrard falling over and feigning injury every 5 minutes.
