They still need to pick the right frame to decide when the ball is kicked, which can be subjective.

    edit: too early to spell

I get your point though that's not what subjective means. But yeah there's a tiny margin of error there with current technology.

Even if they serve prawn sandwiches and champers while they check the outcome?

Yeah that's what I mean (currently the VAR man has to judge it). And if we're going for microscopic levels of offside, someone needs to decide.

PS I've always wondered, when the ball is kicked/hits the post it must be not exactly spherical - how does GLT deal with that? And who checks the line painter is within tolerable levels?

@saintkitch jus moving it to this thread <ok>

I wouldn't be so sure, I couldn't celebrate our goals last night like I normally would, because you don't know if it's a goal or not.

I see where you’re coming from but I personally can’t not celebrate because there may or may not be a late VAR referral, celebrate in the moment and then see what happens with VAR. A bit like a late flag. Billy Sharp’s second vs Pompey in the championship promotion season for example, wild celebrations, then the worry about the indecision, then luckily we were given the goal after some deliberation.

Yes it needs to be a quicker and easier process but don’t forget that it’s in the trial phase and should only get better (hopefully). I think it’s here to stay so we should probably accept it and get used to it, it’s alreadt confirmed for the league next season.

It's horseshit. Horseshit doesn't get better after time, it stays horseshit.

I don't thimk it will get better though. I think it will get worse with refs relying on it more and more.

And everyone's different with regards to celebrating, I personally couldn't bring myself to do so until it's confirmed, especially in such a big game (for me).

And by then it's just a bit ****ing meh tbh.

No more Long at Anfield moments...

Funnily enough I thought our defence were trying to rely upon it at their first goal.what were they thinking?

If VAR hadn't been used in that game Derby's goal in the first half (offside) would have stood, but their goal from a free kick (onside thanks to a stray ankle) would have been ruled out as offside. The result would have been the same.
