Heat up sesame oil, fry onion, add bit of garlic, fry whipped up egg, add cold rice and mix it all together.
I also use oyster sauce. Bit nicer than soy. Got a massive bottle of it in the fridge. Must have lasted over a year. Got a massive bottle of fish sauce too.
I hate fish sauce. I use it as it definitely adds to the flavour but more than a drop and I find it overpowering.
I don’t go near oriental cooking. Leave that to the mrs as she learnt how to do it in Thailand and her sister in law is from the hill tribes in the north. Like I don’t make curry. I can make European food and that’s my limit. If I want curry or oriental food I will go to a takeaway or a restaurant. I’ve never eaten a homemade curry or oriental dish made by a Brit that is anywhere near as good as an ethnic person or a specialist restaurant. Loads of people have tried making me a curry and they’re **** in comparison.
Because we over cook and over complicate things, trying to copy what will take a chinese or thai to cook, we take about 3 times longer, trying to be clever...Plus they go extra hot on the temp.
One of our clan was married to a Thai bird. I’m sure Ginge and Comm will be a bit meh about this but she used to make a sauce/dressing that was a mix of lime juice, chopped garlic, chopped ginger, chopped chilli and a bit of chopped basil. All raw. Goes with everything. She’d eat it with raw prawns, often for breakfast and sometimes with a can of Heineken.
Of course she can, that's actually quite any expenisive dish....you can eat raw prawns anyway, but the spices marinate it.. Its ****ing lush
I really want to go to Thailand. Think next year is likely. This year looking at doing a med cruise. Then Thailand then following a fly drive eating odyssey in America.
