And that's why I hate it. You only have to look at cricket and rugby to see that the on field official no longer makes any decisions. Give it a couple of years and Sky will work out that they can go to a commercial break whilst the decision is made!
Did you see the BBC HT review of it? It wasn’t offside imo, and it certainly wasn’t clear, unless they were solely looking at the Derby players foot, which would make the review wrong.
wasn't it supposed to be 'clear and obvious'? or are they going to check EVERY goal scored for infringements? cos they never told us that,,,
yes I did, they kept rewinding to when it came through, that's why I think he was trying to see if the ball made contact with one of the players before disallowing it. It looked off-side to me. To me, the main problem with it is it's new, and like all new things it will take a bit of trial and error to get it running more smoothly. Referees need help though, as there are far too many cheats in football.
Yes. They’ll look at every goal, but if it’s not a clear mistake by the officials on the pitch they shouldn’t even attempt to overrule. That’s what they need to get right before this gets rolled out.
The defenders shoulder looked in line with the Derby players foot imo. No way it was a clear and obvious mistake.
I thik the 'clear and obvious mistake' is for offences that can have a bit of ambiguity ie fouls and hand-ball, (or obstruction, but that's never given), rather than black and white situations like a ball out of play, off-sides, encroachment etc. But as I said, it's new, there's going to be teething problems
I’m all for it, have been for years, as it’ll remove howlers from some of the awful officials that we have. However, I think it needs to be quick and not leave decisions like the one we’re discussing that are still subjective after the ruling. When they’re that tight and far from clear they should not overule.
