Welcome to the forum! And an excellent first post. it will a tight battle for the top 4 but I think we'll get it!
Thanks Chris I'm gunna go all Roy Hodgson and say that after 10 games we'll know what we'll be challenging for this season *Scratches Chin*
Yes, it is true that I am a master debater The Modric issue aside, we have the most settled squad outside of United and Chelsea, and yet no one seems to place any premium on that fact. Sure, you've added a lot of new players to your squad, and I have absolutely no doubts that you are stronger this season than you have been for at least the past two seasons, but I still don't think you are stronger than us. Well, not strong enough to be so confident with your predictions that you'll be challenging Chelsea for 3rd spot. Sorry, but that is nothing short of delusion! Apart from Suarez and (possibly) Downing, I can't see that you've made any real strides in the market. Let's face it, Carroll was a complete waste of money, and young Henderson is already looking completely out of his depth. I'm not saying that we'll find you to be push-overs (I've never said that in any of the games we've played you, even the ones we've won), but I do confess to finding the arrogance of some of you - that LFC is vastly stronger than us - to be genuinely laughable.
I havn't worked out how to quote things yet hmm Hoddle Is God It's a good point you make about your team being settled, but since you got 4th a couple of seasons ago Spurs have stood still while Liverpool have improved alot, I don't see how our predictions are delusional, since Kenny came in we've had better form that Spurs, we've made some great additions in Enrique, Suarez, Downing and Adam (Which for me are the best signings since January) And although Carroll hasn't started the best I think he will be an important player although he probally will never be worth 35m, that's just how much we had to pay at the time (Torres - 15m) If we had bought him for 15-20m I'm sure people wouldn't be as critical of him. I'm not saying Liverpool WILL finish 3rd or even 4th. I'm just giving my opinion to show that we might, the same as you Edit- Henderson has looked pretty decent so far, without being amazing
Delusion: noun a fixed false belief that is resistant to reason or confrontation with actual fact: I don't see any facts that suggest we are not as strong as Chelsea. Also, Henderson has not been out of his depth since his move. He played well against Arsenal and got the MOTM against Bolton, so I suggest watching a player before posting drivel to back up such claims.
Press "Reply with Quote," at the bottom of the post. Although to be fair I wouldn't bother with "Hoddle is a god," you're not going to get any intelligent conversation out of him.
That's just it! To anyone other than an LFC fan, the gulf in class between you and Chelsea is immense. I think you have been led astray in your expectations by your win against the Gooners. The problem is, you're talking about a team that was drubbed 8-2 by United. Not even Swansea will get beaten that severely by United this season. I certainly believe that you and us will be battling it out for 4th place, but some of the drivel that has been spouted on here about our team cannot go unpunished. When we finished 4th (two seasons ago), we didn't have VDV, and Modric was out for more than half the season. Our best player was probably THudd, although it was a fairly solid all-round team performance. VDV coming into the squad last season is the reason why we faltered, because Harry switched us from our traditional 4-4-2 to an alien 4-4-1-1 formation, that our strikers have had a real hard time adjusting to. Had our strikers scored the same number of goals between them as they did in the season before, we would have finished comfortably in 2nd spot. You don't become a bad team over night, and neither does a bad team become a world-beater over night
When you finished 4th you beat City away. Now you are losing 5-1 at home, you are not the same team as you were two years ago and since then 'THudd', Lennon and Defoe have all but disappeared off the face of the earth in terms of performances. Moderic doesn't want to play for you and I have news for you... VDV who 'faltered' your squad is still very much a Spurs player. Wake up and smell the coffee.
We went from European power, second in the prem but a narrow margin, to 7th, out of the champs league by the group stage, and barely qualified for Europa. Yes you can become s*** over night. Getting better on the other hand I agree can take time.
Instant? And here I thought I knew you...... gotta be fresh and ground, so much better. Nice bit of creamer to go with it as well.
You can't go wrong with a good coffee in the mornings! I don't think we will agree on much this season but I can agree with you regarding coffee!
Yes, it is humbling to see that, despite our hardened differences over the beautiful game, we are all men who appreciate our coffee.
I think you might find most American's love the instant stuff as we are always on the go and move, or the Starbucks sugar coffee. Starbucks is good and all, but when I want my cup of Joe, a wee bit of cream and sugar and fresh ground coffee, preferably from a Latin Country or hawaii.
