I think he was a bitter Shearer fan personally. What a ****. Its the obscure ones you don't remember. The classics like David Moyes Wife and Boro Gully (who I'm still convinced was a smack head) stick long in the memory. It must be the thousands of pieces of inane boring ****e they posted. Get DMW started on Keegan and he'd be there for days. They've even made reappearances
SHHHH!!! Don't let Mike ****ing see that!!! That's 4 senior players he can sell this month without buying replacements now Do agree though Woodman is #2 keeper for me. Sterry looks better all round back up than Manquillo and a more solid defensive option than Yedlin but no way near him going forwards. Longstaff is good enough to be involved going forwards but when Ki, Shelvey and Diame are fit I don't know where he fits tbh as he is different to all 3. Depends on the game but he could be starting a few this second half of the season. Ki and Shelvey, Ball playing midfields who can sit deep and spray the ball around. Ki can get around the pitch as well Diame and Hayden are our ball winners and Diame eats up ground for pre dinner snack on a Saturday afternoon. Longstaff looks more like an Box to Box engine midfielder who wants to get to the edge of either box and can hit a long shot. Between him and Diame they could run the legs off a horse. Roberts I think with no back up to Ayo in the "10" should be kept around as cover - give him some games off the bench a bit Longstaff coming on vs Liverpool boxing day when the games are effectively dead - (hopefully though its when we are a few goals up with 5-10m to go not 4-0 down).
I have to say Sterry is struggling defensively. What doesn't help is when the manager gives him marking duties for some 6ft 4in monster at corners. What exactly was the thinking there? It looked like men against boys. The place for someone like Sterry on a corner is guarding the post! Here is Kieron Dyer showing him how its done... please log in to view this image
Overall I think you have to be happy with the result. There is loads to work on with the young lads but there are some raw materials to work with. You just wonder if Rafa will ever give them enough meaningful game time. Longstaff was shocking on the corner for the 2nd goal. Absolute piss power. The Schar manages to make his cock up worse with his efforts. The two goals were woeful defending. I know it obviously went badly in terms of injuries for the league with Clark, Lascelles but to be honest the PL is ****e for us. Its just a survival mission. If we stay up great but I don't honestly give a **** because the PL is just an existence for us. At least in the cup we can have a bit of fun and have a go. Bottom line is we have a home draw to go into the 5th round. I suggest we have a go and put a bit of life into the season instead of sleepwalking through it. And yes we did get lucky but first half we got jack. That's football you get some for and against you. All the hissy fits we see every week from clubs supporters about how big clubs are favoured, or how their team gets a raw deal. Football supporters have become as big a set of fannies as those they are watching.
What names... DMW and Boro Gully Copy Nooker...named after an area of Blackburn called Copy Nook...was totally obsessed. He never had a good word to say about anything to do with us but I do think us buying Shearer was what pissed him off. He had long term beel.
Huge issue for me and is why I said we just need a change of any kind, to get these youngsters involved. Preferably Ashley first, but certainly I'm lacking a lot of faith in Benitez. We've been picking Isaac Wantawayden ahead of Longstaff game after game, what the **** is going on in Rafa's head there? Sean's come in, ran his ass off, scored and played with determination, drive and passion. Isaac's dreaming of South Wales. We then have Manquillo regularly ahead of Sterry, it makes no sense - not repeatedly, at least! I'd rather we blood the youngsters than persevere endlessly with an out-of-form and utterly disinterested Kenedy - why has Roberts not been involved before this replay??
Not to continue going in on Rafa because he has had his hands tied a bit, but Kenedy's poor form and loss of confidence is as much to do with how he has been used as anything else. The young lad has had his end knocked in playing left back or wing back. He has got himself in such a panic trying to stop people running off the back of him, he has lost all confidence. He just doesn't have the positional sense to play there, and now we've ruined the best attacking player we have. As I say I have sympathy with Benitez to a point on this though. I have to say Sterry is too poor a defender at present to play there regular. He'd get torn to shreds as his positional sense is poor and to be honest he is weak. Its ok being a small full back, but he literally gets chucked about like a rag doll. Longstaff has loads to learn and the 2nd goal was entirely down to shocking marking by him, but he can pass a ball so he's an instant upgrade on Hayden. I have to say having watched the young lads I don't think any of them are any great shakes. That isn't the point though. They are either better or equal to who we are using so therefore should be getting game time. Rafa has his favourites like all managers. All I can say is Manquillo must give a killer blow job.
I remember Boro Gully from the BBC days when I only lurked... I was going to ask if anyone else did. He was an arsehole for the record books but I'd love it if he came back.
Can’t remember his name but I used to like the poster who was 606’s answer to Wiki in relation to foreign players.
