No I'm not missing the point. YEs the government has form. It was only a couple of months ago. However with a most definite defeat on the cards she had no need to turn up to vote nor worry about a pairing being broken nor even need to arrange a pairing. She has decided to make a point out of it for something she had absolutely no need to do........but hey, the point being made is obviously more important than having her caesarean.

The last thing we need is either a general election or a second referéndum. We need a Government of national unity, consisitng of Tory MPs who are pro EU, Labour, despite Corbyn's opposition, the Lib Dems, the Greens SNP and PC. This needs to be the way forward for the next two years. Party politics needs to be shelved for now

I said most!!. These votes are not secret, they are recorded. You will be able to see who voted which way. If any of May's payroll voted against they will most likely now be sacked re-shuffled out.

Yes but you are talking about "assisting Dover while they struggle." And you talk about government contracts. The boss of Immingham was quite clear that it isn't a temporary thing. If they have capacity up there then it should be permanent seeing as Dover is such a bottleneck all year round.

You've just had 2 years+ of the 3 man pro-remain team of May, Hammond and Robbins. You really think it should now be a cross party lockout of Pro-remain MPs only?

Wrong again. She didn’t ask for a pairing because the government can’t be trusted to pair, as Jo Swinson found in November. She should have had a proxy vote but despite the Procedures Committee agreeing to it weeks ago the government have done nothing to implement it.

But hey, let’s slag off a committed MP for doing her job, shall we?

She didn't need to have a pairing. The vote was doomed. She decided to turn up, she could have arranged a pairing if she was that bothered and then made a point IF they ignored it but no, she felt she had to turn up for a vote that was not even likely to be close.

This is the same MP that made a veiled threat to the pregnant Channel 4 newswoman when she was questioned about Bangladesh!!! Has been under fire again recently about it. I suspect it is much more to do with that than feeling she had to turn up "in case it was close."

She expected to get a proxy vote but was denied one because the government ****ed up. Again,

Of all the issues about tonight’s vote, this is what you choose to get exercised about? Seriously?

No i didnt say assisting Dover. i said its helping "alleviate the throughput issues in Dover " and southern ports which is the issue that northern ports are taking advantage of. The longer it takes to travel by road the less economical it is. its hasnt suddenly become more attractive to travel via the north just less attractive to travel via the south. the northern ports have been setting up but not enough so the government had to put out contracts to do even more, that doesn't mean they're paying for everything or that the money is going to Dover. in fact its purposely taking transport away from Dover.

And i have no idea whether this will be a permanent issue or not.

The vote was doomed. It is, however, a vote on the most important issue to come before Parliament in a generation or more. It is something of a "stand up and be counted" moment, and each additional vote is another nail in the coffin of this awful plan.

Wasn't me that posted it up. The Proxy vote should go through. No arguments there. But she didn't need to turn up to this vote, she chose to so she could make a big thing out of it.

John Mann, Ian Austin, Sir Kevin Barron.

It seems to be the most logical solution. Withdraw Article 50 completely, setting out reasons why. And start investing in education, policing, the NHS - no more privatising, ensuring workers right to holliday and sick pay are fully met, increasing the mínimum wage substantially and increasing the state pension significantly. If a nation can afford to fight wars for the best part of three decades, it can afford the things I have set out.

Those 3 and 10 Tories makes only 13 that aren't on the government payroll voted for the deal!!! 3 more PPSs resigned today to vote against.

EDIT: Seems that some indies might have voted for as Frank Field did, as pointed out above. Kate Hoey voted against.

EDIT: Other Non Tory/Labour that voted FOR
    Lady Hermon (Indy)
    Stephen Lloyd (Indy)
So a total of 16 that weren't on the government payroll.
