    Also at the time it looked like he was leaving the massive Rooney picture outside the Nike shop on market street in Manchester had spray painted on it "if you sign for city then your ****ing dead" in massive bright red letters.

    I agree luv. It should be on the banter thread. It runs the risk of diluting the banter thread, which would be a shame.

    The only reason people who don't really follow football say they support Man Utd is that we are the biggest and most well known name in Football so we're probably the only club they have heard of.

    Let me enter the debate, then. Are you there sky?

    Firstly, let me tell you that one of my very best mates is a die-hard manc (no, sky, he wasn't in any of the films). He actually reports on the Merseyside teams for a national rag. He clearly doen't hate me, but he hates Liverpool FC more than citeh, even with all their money. He also hates ferguson, which may come as a surprise to many of you.

    Someone said earlier that hate is a very strong word. Clearly, with certain exceptions both at home and on here (Swarbs, Jezz511, custard etc), I have a very, very strong dislike of all things salford.

    Some of you know that I've been on the planet for longer than many of you. Long enough to remember when your ex-star player put you into the 2nd division (cue hordes of them claiming they were already down before he scored - they always fall for that one). Even then, when we were winning pretty much every cup it was possible to win, they were still "The most famous club in the World". If they were, it was due to a terribly tragic event and shouldn't have been used for bragging rites. Even in the 2nd division, they exhibited a degree of arrogance it was difficult to stomach.

    I moved to Warrington with my parents when I was 15. Prior to that, I had only experienced playful banter with BS. I wasn't really ready for the bile and vitriol that flooded my way when we moved in. As I said, I know many united fans who I can have a great laugh with and it never gets out of hand.

    Some of you will remember a recent post of mine when I walked into my local (after united had just beaten Arsenal 8 - 2) with some groceries in my Hillsborough Justice Appeal bag. I put it down and went for a slash to see it burning outside. I've now discovered that the person who did it is the very same person who used to wear a united shirt with the number 96 on the back.

    There are good and bad supporters of every team. We should stop and think sometimes and try and rise above it.
