I prefer to think of this has a poor headline chosen by the Daily Fail rather than an actual comment from Nige; nothing could be further from the truth!
The headline is actually... Fans can see Hull City are a club coming together says Nigel Adkins I think it's fairly obvious who said it.
Think it's been such a miserable time for the fans constant ownership problems, poor games and results that many fans have put the ownership to the back of their minds and thought if they don't care less then in my mind they don't exist which of course they do but with the recent fantastic upturn in results they are not letting the problems off the field spoil it. Of course we all know there is many problems and some can't get over what the Allams have done in fact their is not one person I know even non football fans who dont call them. However from a playing side I've got that buzz again and enjoying this current run of form and that's down to the coaching staff and players now regarding the ownership that's another story and we all know it brings so much uncertainty but in my mind i am not wasting my time on them, life's to short has it is so i think we should enjoy the best bits whilst we can.
I think it's also something to do with the recruitment by a man most on here wanted hung drawn and quartered not that very long ago.
Definitely, i always said he was trying his best under difficult circumstances and it was unfair to judge him. Many times I've also said i am not saying he's a good or a bad manager because he wasn't backed with many of his first choice signings in the pre season. Having said that for want he has spent the signings he has brought in on present form have been outstanding.
However, if you read the actual quote in context he's clearly talking about the team and the players coming together. (Well that's certainly me reading) “The fans were great,” said Adkins. “I can understand, a lot of things have gone on and things aren’t going to change overnight but there’s a feel-good factor and momentum is building. We need to keep that going. “We’ve got a positive outlook across our football club. They’re striving to improve all the time. Players playing with confidence helps but we’ve got a good environment where everyone is working hard. “There’s a great feel-good factor about the place. I’m totally aware it’s not cheap to come and watch any team so the players know they’ve got to go out and show passion. “If you’re not good enough, you’re not good enough. But you’ve got to try as hard as you can. The fans can see a football club coming together.” You can't blame him for wanting bums on seats. It's a pretty bizarre situation to be doing so well and have the place half empty. But at the end of the day it's the toxic ownership of the Allams that's caused that situation and that won't change soon. The comments from Burnsy prematch about the asking price being met but rejected depressed the helll out of me because I now think the greedy ****ers think they can smell another PL gravy train pulling into the KCOM.
Yeah but does nige think people aren’t coming because they can’t afford it? People aren’t going because of pinky & perky!
I was referring to the Head of Recruitment, The manager has worked wonders with the players we did sign and already had but in (nearly) every case every one of them had something.
On the basis the Daily Fail is today claiming prospective signing Matthew Connolly will be given time to 'feed his feet' (strange diet) I'm not too sure! I for one don't always believe what I read in The Press! I'm sure 'find his feet' would have been more accurate
I remember years ago Bob Monkhouse's audience was handed newspapers and asked to RIP out articles screw them up and throw them on the stage, someone picked them up and handed them to him for him to come out with jokes about them. He picked up one about Nelson's Column and another about Saddam. Quick as a flash Monkhouse said there were similarities between the two of them. Nelson was an admiral with one eye and Sadaam was a Shi'ite with one i.
