Hilarious. Don’t try pointing out the error to their faces though, they won’t understand.

Apparently, if our representatives in the house of commons collectively decide to hold another referendum and decide that the Brexit thing was probably not the greatest idea ever, the alt right will then win most of the seats in the subsequent UK government and contemplate invading Europe?

I personally think any "civil disobediance" if we go through with Brexit will be vastly smaller than if they ignore the vote. It is quite clear which side is happier to take to the streets in larger numbers.

Yellow vests is a thing in France. Over here it is a few knobs with no ideas of their own so they copy something else, mostly missing the point of the originator.

I assume you are being sarcastic with this one. Can;t see anything breaking the stranglehold of the big 2 and most definitely not some supposed "alt-right" party.

We would simply go through a period of protest which could go on for a year or more followed by a complete disconnect from politics for decades. And the latter would make it a virtual shoe in for a hard left Labour party because the Tories would be hardest hit. Always plenty of utopians feeding into the system from the universities to keep that hard left idea going.

Biggest problem will come if they really **** up hard brexit and we end up with supply shortages, shutdowns and people losing their jobs. We'd have real yellow vest protests then.

Going to be a tough week. I discount all the talk of the Right rioting as appeasing them only ever emboldens them.

Some spokesmen this weekend are genuinely implying that a vote in Parliament should take into account extremists' threats. Have no lessons been learnt from history? If you appease extremists (of any bent) they become stronger. What have we become?

Interesting that Brexit is just one of their claimed grievances yet MPs are meant to take these twonks into account when voting this week.

Agreed. A relatively small number of voluble Brexit supporters are given way too much publicity in the media, BBC included, giving the utterly false impression that there is a groundswell of passionate support for this foolish project. There isn't; last summer's peaceful march in London proved there is a far greater number of people who care enough about the country's future to take to the streets against this monumental act of self harm <ok>

I did chemical engineering at university in the late 70s (all paid for by the state) 90% of the class was Iranian. Not quite sure what their politics were but they were **** scared to go home after the Shah got deposed!

It's become a real issue for the Iranian state. They have sent their brightest young people abroad to be educated for generations now, and they tend to return home with liberal ideas. It's fuelling quite a lot of internal tension.

Sorry but let's not confuse the right wing scum who have aggressively singled out MPs etc as being the benchmark for leave voters like myself. The shame of this is that the view of normal citizens who voted to leave is being pilloried as extremist right wing which is wrong. In terms of the march in London, there has been no reason for the leave vote to hold one. After all they are on the right side of the referendum result. I do suspect that there will be a March soon however if recent events continue on the same trajectory.

I've no idea what the benchmark for Leave voters is tbh. The most outspoken proponents seem to be at best very nationalistic, and at worst downright racist, but I sincerely hope those people are in a minority. What were your own reasons for voting Leave?

I suspect that there are not many differences between the normal distribution of leave and remain voters. Most of the people I know who voted leave are pretty normal mortgaged etc. I was pro EEC back in the day but have railed against the increasing dominance of Brussels for the last 10 years. We have given up quite a bit to be full eu members and Ive never been convinced by it. The fact that the UK fought desperatly hard to prevent Juncker being elected sums it up. Always felt we have been played by the commission. I believe EU will be in for a rough ride over the next two years as merkel retires and Napoleon (sorry Macron) seeks greater power.

Wish we the UK had a statesperson like Macron to take us inot the very bosom of the EU - euro and Schengen - instead of the weaklings we have had since 2010!! Even the laughing stock of Spain, Rajoy, would be marginally better.

If the Commons votes down Brexit, then the blame for this lays fairly and squarely with opponents of the "Deal" within the Tory party with the likes of Rees-Mogg, Suella Braverman, Peter Bone, Bill Cash. I suspect, in reality, even the hardliners will back May tomorrow so it is likely to be very tight. It could come down to the DUP, so if May loses the vote, then the blame lies squarely and fairly with the DUP!!!! They are the traitors of the British people who voted for "Brexit."

PS: The right-wing rags will of course blame Labour, Lib Dems, Greens, SNP, and maybe a few like Anna Soubry instead of the real culprits . the DUP and hard-line Brexiteers within the Cnservative party.

PS: Can we get this message of where the blame really lies, across to people,if the Brexit votes fails (I hope it does)? I also hope Parliament has the b**** to say "No Brexit"

The DUP have to look after their own people first. I can't blame them for that.

I'd prefer a second referendum given the leave vote "victory" albeit by far to slim a margin. I'm a registered overseas voter living in the Netherlands. I think the expat vote will increase hugely and be in favour of remaining. There are 5 million plus British citizens living abroad, a big registration and vote campaign will be needed if ref 2 goes ahead.
