What are your neighbour's views on Brittany, Frenchie? And the Basque country and Catalunya, come to that?
So France, Spain, Germany, Russia etc. etc. are all 'counties' as they are all part of the same land mass........... Those on the Continent should be the last folks to think this
Apparently the Andy Murray football shirt is all nonsense. I heard the interviewer who did that interview and he said it was completely untrue and an invention of 'The Sun' WHHHATTTTT? NOT NEWS INTERNATIONAL - they simply wouldn't. I agree with Kev about the Home Nations.
As I am a quarter Welsh I have a soft spot for the team from the Valleys however Will always be English and support England. Its about time Wales got to a final a World Cup would be nice. Always liked Norther Ireland and especially 1982 and the Spain World Cup the best WC for me. Who can forget Amstrong....
Well for my 50p scotland can f off there is a deal in place that they get 40 per cent per tax payer more spent. Really bugger off i have been to scotland twice caught a samon so no need to go agsin
I think you should investigate that 'deal' a bit further - you'll find a lot more to it than 'face value'. As to independence for Scotland, just ask yourself what's the real reason your illustrious prime minister (David Cameron in case you don't know) doesn't want the UK to be split up - purely financial. Perhaps you should come here again - you'd certainly benefit from our education system.
I thought Des Kelly (of the Daily Mail, for reasons I can't comprehend) was behind the initial interview?
My Celtic blood gives me a soft spot for Northern Ireland and Wales though I consider myself to be English through and through. As for Scotland in particular I think we English get a bit myopic when it comes to addressing their problems - hence the success of the SNP. All should be careful what we wish for. I'm all for the individual home nations and for the Union. If that is having my cake and eating it then so be it.
As with BB, I'll look at the others results if a Hornet is playing for them or if their result affects England (Wales on Fri). There is the possibility that the football rivalry has diluted due to the abolition of the Home Internationals in the late 80s/ early 90s and the gap in class between England and the rest (RoI excepted). It would confuse things even further for Frenchie's neighbour if Jersey was allowed full member status of FIFA - we're part of the British Isles, but not Great Britain, our head of state is the Queen under her title the Duke of Normandy (French for the Channel Islands is Les Iles Anglo-Normandes) and being political, despite what they think, WE ARE NOT PART OF THE EU!
I am not biased I support none of them. I can understand the smaller countries not liking the bigger and more powerful one, we are the same with Danmörk as we have independence from them. In history Scotland and Wales have been united into England through marriage or military actions and then left a bit behind perhaps a bit like the south west of England and even the north as well. I can see the attitude of a government will also affect thought about a neighbour perhaps in the same way Europe is shown to the British people. I can understand with the name of the language the others get forgotten and a lot of people who are not British do not understand there are different countries in the small area. Great Britain, United Kingdom and England are all the same thing or are they?
Being a southerner, I have a predefined dislike for any inhabited region above St Albans. The level of dislike increases exponentially with longitude. Don't blame me, it's instinct.
Ak, GB is England, Scotland and Wales and UK is the same as GB with Northern Ireland added. Hope that makes sense.
Jsybarry I am aware that the British Isles are made up of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Norður-Ãrland and the Republik of Ãrland the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is England Wales Skotland and Norður-Ãrland Norður-Ãrland is six counties of Ulster Republik of Ãrland is Connaught, Munster Leinster and from Ulster Galway Cavan and Monaghan I am not sure how the islands near Frakkland and the Isle of Man fit to this but I am sure you will correct me. I think they are part of United Kingdom of Great Britain part of United Kingdom of Great Britain and Norður-Ãrland but separate of the other parts.
