I wonder if its possible to play all 3 of them together somehow.. For example, _______Campbell Milinkovic Grosicki Bowen _____Stewart Henriksen
Strangely enough Nigel’s post match pressers seem to be far more acceptable to me after six wins on the spin.
It really is amazing how the enthusiasm of the manager is rubbing off now .. and how each player is getting more confident buying into the philosophy and ethic of the team. It seems every transfer window that has come and gone since Grosicki arrived he has been linked with moves away or he and his agent have pushed for one .. but it is telling that he is seemingly putting in the effort and all of a sudden he is playing as well as he has throughout his time here consistently .. yet no transfer murmurs are coming from either him or his agent, could it be even he has bought into the Adkins arm round the shoulder management style .. they do seem to be wanting to play for the bloke that is certain and now they are winning games the confidence is through the roof. I said it a few match threads back, this has the feel of 07/08 to me .. the togetherness in the face of seeming adversity. I for one am daring to dream .. perhaps foolhardy .. but what the hell.
The cynic in me says that he’s out of contract in the summer so he’ll get a better deal for himself financially as a free agent then than he would as a transfer now. Or he’ll sign a new contract with Premier League Hull City.
Very well put BAB. I agree with everything you said. Adkins had shown what he could do at Southampton, and is now repeating it with our young team. The players believe in him and his calm positive approach, and the teams growing success, has all of them wanting to play for him. Grosicki is a transformed player and making a huge contribution with his skillful unselfish performances. But every member of the team is giving his all, as evidenced by yesterdays magnificent display against Wednesday. Their confidence is sky-high and I am sure they all fully expect to make the play-offs, and then become favourites for promotion. Barring serious injuries or other unforeseen events I seriously believe, like you, that that is now a realistic expectation, and the lads are worthy of our full support, despite our execrable owners.
I don't know whether this has been put up before, apologies if it has, if not there is a good piece on City around 42 minutes in. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0bz0cw3/football-focus-12012019
That attempt by Grosicki at the end showed what a one footed player he is, he made it easy for the defender to tackle him, that's his only failing for me.
A left foot prod would have given him a goal - as you say, it was the switch to his right foot that played into Hector's hands. Even as a one footed player though he is making a huge difference and his running on the break is keeping defenders on the back foot - really good to see.
