Whaaaat? Big Phil departed? Fantastic player and even when he left us I was a regular on CH4 Italian footy coverage back in the day when Gaza, Wilkins and Phil Massinga were smashing it. He was revered and in the same league as Savicavic Pirlo, ponytail, Buffon...
Often the forgotten man in the double signing from kaiser chiefs.... and the one the scouts were sent to watch initially... so no Phil, no Lucas. Saw him get a brace in a 3-1 win at Highbury in the mid 90’s. RIP Phil
When the president of your country announces your death to the nation you know you were loved and had achieved greatness. I watched his career after leaving us and especially his time in Italy as I'm old enough to remember the best footy show on telly was every Sunday afternoon for CH4's Italia live football, which also showed highlights of the Saturday games. Phil first played for Salerno and then moved on to Bari where he had the most prolific period of scoring in his career (Top flight) He was usually showed in highlights slots but also in live matches he was awesome.
I clearly remember his extra time hattrick v Walsall in the cup, after getting the equaliser there, headed it just level where i was sitting. RIP
Alioski and Forshaw were outstanding. The whole team was and I'd be more worried about the team being drug tested than any spygate.
It’s getting beyond a joke. Some media asking what the punishment should be for Leeds. You can’t punish a club when there is no rule against what happened . It’s only because it’s golden boy frank that got out thought
It's because it's Leeds United and the reality is that the cash cow that is Leeds Utd for the FL and for many clubs in this League could actually get promoted.
I agree. Injuries may have shaped our season in a positive way. It's caused us to accelerate the development of our u23s, making us stronger. I think that's why Bielsa says he'd be happy without any signings. The squad is stronger for it, and I don't think he would have been as confident if they hadn't had so much game time.
