I don't think we were better, we weren't. We were more exciting last year. Not because we scored more either (although that was a big part of it). Excitement is the unknown, our results are more predictable this year than last year. We know our defence is solid and reliable so we're not as on the edge of our seats as before. We know we can still score so if there is time left, we are still confident we'll get one. Last year, we could have been 3-0 up with ten minutes left and the nerves would still be there. This year, we can be 1-0 with 85mins left and we're confident they won't score. Of course, we all probably miss those twenty minute demolitions or the high energy pressing too, both make for entertaining viewing.
Your always going to get games when you aren't at your best. Champions grind out wins when your not at your best Liverpool did this in home and away 1-0 wins over Brighton it's more impressive when there is no Matip, Lovren and Gomez. Alexander Arnold wasn't 100 percent fit either. Great win and thet were never really in danger especially after they went ahead. 0 shots on target to for Brighton shows how well Liverpool defended.
Normally agree but I think it was more to do with Brighton not being offensive enough today. They never really targeted Fabinho or TAA. PS...did they even know about TAA's ankle?
A win is a win is a win. Very important victory and 3 points. Any points dropped could have impacted on morale. But now it is full steam ahead. We are still very much in the driving seat and unless something drastic happens we should cross the finishing line ahead of everyone else including City. If we keep winning there is nothing they can do about it.
Opta stats Liverpool have 57 points from 22 Premier League games this season; in English top-flight history, only Preston (58 in 1888-89), Tottenham (59 in 1960-61), Chelsea (61 in 2005-06) and Manchester City (62 in 2017-18) have ever had more at this stage when adjusting to three points for a win. Liverpool have conceded just 10 goals in their 22 league matches this season; only Chelsea in 2004-05 (eight goals) have ever conceded fewer after 22 matches in an English top-flight season. Brighton manager Chris Hughton has lost more league games to Liverpool in his managerial career (seven defeats from seven meetings) than any other side. His sides have conceded 26 goals across those seven games. This was Liverpool's 50th clean sheet in the Premier League under Jurgen Klopp in their 128th match with the German in charge since his first in October 2015; 42% of those have come since Virgil van Dijk's league debut in January 2018 (21 in 37 games since). Brighton have now lost as many games at the Amex Stadium in all competitions this season (four of 12) as they did in the entirety of 2017-18 on home soil (four of 22 matches). Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has scored the opening goal in nine Premier League games this season, at least three more than any other player. Of the last 10 Premier League penalties taken by left-footed players, six have failed to score - the other four have all been scored by Liverpool's Mohamed Salah.
Unbelievable that there is still any doubt that we will Win the title. With that sort of tally, we would already be awarded the title by the bookmakers in most seasons. I honestly cannot see any team catching us.
don't be ridiculous carl ffs. utd away be their cup final and do their hardest to stop us, everton away be their cup final as well, not counting chelsea and spurs at home etc. too many games we can easily drop points in to get carried away just yet.
It goes to show the importance of a good defence. There were debates and arguments last year but ultimately, attack win you games but defences win you trophies.
Not sure on that Last year they had a better defence than us imho but their level and consistency of attack is amazing, This year i think we have the better defence, they are a good counter for that old addage but there is always an exception to every rule I myself am hoping for one this year.....
I wasn't comparing them to us. I was pointing out that you don't have to have a impeccable defence to win titles. Stats might say theirs was top notch last year, in reality it was their high possession stats behind that. Their defence is suspect if you get at them.
I think suspect is the bit up for debate, suspect by their standards but their defence is not exactly a shambles And there is an older addage that goes the best form of defence is attack Be fecked if i know what i a m talking about like lol
