I think one has to be a violent crime. I met a bloke in Mexico who was on the run from the feds in the US because he was wanted for people smuggling across the border in Texas. He got done for beating a bloke up with a baseball bat, who he said had been fiddling with his niece and then he got arrested for nicking some batteries from a shop. If the feds caught up with him then it would have been a mandatory life sentence.
