Played well tonight. I’d play him a lot more for the rest of the season to prepare him for regular play in the championship. I’d do the same for Roberts, Sherry and Sorensen. We are gonna need to rely on our youth a hell of a lot more next season as we look to stabilise in the Championship.
Just read this, surely its not true? "Longstaff is the 31st player from Newcastle United's Academy to make a senior debut in the professional ranks in the last decade."
Seriously, I'm at a loss. Alnwick, Sterry, Dummet, longstaff, Armstrong & Carroll. I'm 25 short off the top of my head. Maybe Campbell? Would Aarons count?
Krul,Ferguson,Vuksic, Caldwell and there was some fella from South Africa and a goalkeeper recently had a good game against Chelsea
We won’t have him next season....Ashley was in attendance so he’s already got him flogged to Fulham for £14m
Mbabu and Perez? Technically Perez started u21 but was promoted due to injury. Edit: never mind. Has anyone mentioned lua lua, ameobis, Huntington? David Edgar?
We should keep getting him on the pitch, in the league too. Need some academy players in that team. Personally there is noting I like more but to see young players breaking into the first team.
****, how do you miss the Ameobis? Think Sr would have been before the last decade though. I had forgotten all about Edgar, Lua Lua and Huntington though! When I read 31 players I thought it was nonsense but we are getting closer to the figure, the problem is they have been largely carp!
Anyway, this is getting off topic (mainly by me). Hopefully Longstaff proves to actually be good because we don't have a great track record
The problem now is some fans will think he's Patrick Vieira and expect too much and twist if he's not picked ahead of diame
I partially agree with your sentiment, but there are a fair few things I would prefer more. Keeping it football related, here are some: MA selling up. MA and his SD tat ads never being seen at nor associated with our club again (Charnley going would be lovely too). NUFC showing ambition. Competing in the transfer market as part of said ambition. Winning games. Playing exciting football whilst winning those games...
