And he's playing for the win. We went into our shell by necessity second half today, but the days of being happy with a point seem to be over, mercifully. Pellegrino and Hughes drew in over 40% of their combined matches, which is staggering. We will lose some matches that perhaps we should win, but the era of playing afraid home and away has concluded.
I just can't get my head around the fact that sometimes we seem to score more goals than the team we are playing against.
Just seen this. Surely can’t be true!? Shane Longs last 4 goals have come under 4 different managers. RH, MH, MP2 & CP.
The most interesting thing about Bournemouth is that Eddie Howe is always being touted as the football of English football management. I think it will be interesting to see how he deals with reverses if they continue. He always seems to be linked to bigger clubs such as Arsenal or Spurs but I feel he would be a catastrophic appointment for that kind of club. Regarding Puel, I had a conversation with someone at the WCFC match today about his style of football and there was a consensus that people no longer want to watch that kind of pragmatic style of football. I think he is a manager who will keep a team up in the top half of the table and will have erratic and unexpected results but the bulk of fans don't enjoy the kind of football his teams play. The same comments made by Leicester fans as well as many Saints fans and I have heard the same in Lyon whenever I have spoken to their fans on holiday. They would have expected three points today but it is almost salutary that his team had 72% possession (even greater in the second half) yet still could only find one goal. I am not too worried about Ralph attracting a lot of attention as it is far too early yet. However, I am surprised that Nathan Redmond's name has not been linked with other clubs. He is a shoo -in for Player of the Season in my opinion and deserves another England call up.
And most importantly, the defense behind them. Alderweireld in his first season, van Dijk in his second. His sides held leads.
Great win and fantastic energy. Ralph looks like he nicked all of Hughes's luck. Don't underestimate the bond growing between manager and fans. We have not had that for two years and it will change the way we play and progress.
