Im a commercial pipe fitter mate. Lumpin 6 metre lengths of 6” heavy grade iron pipe all day. Had two operations on my back already and i’m only 32. Started doing yoga six months ago. Best thing i’ve done. Pills and surgery are temporary fixes. Training your muscles through exercise is the way forward. Nout manly about been bent double in old age. Only wish i’d started yoga earlier
Yes mate I do. Just coz you lift heavy boxes around it doesn’t mean you won’t benefit from it. On the contrary, the injuries you are sustaining are because your muscles are getting over extended and torn, which in turn can cause nerve impingement. Stretching would help you no end.
I understand all that mate, i know how the body works. I just can't vision myself in lycra at a yoga class.
Just done that old fashioned thing, and walked to the shop. It feels cold, it feels like snow weather.
Just do it at home Half an hour before work then half an hour no a night if I can be arsed Loads of good vids on youtube
I understand the benefits of stretching etc. I also know that by the time i've gone into work and it's 5c the body will have just reverted back to normal.
That’s what I do, it isn’t really even ‘yoga’ as such, just stretches that my missus has shown me how to do. I’ve had nerve impingement in my lower back and was out of action for 6 months once. ****ing agony. I have to manage it properly now to prevent flare ups. Comm needs to wise up and get over his preconceptions about it all. He’d benefit no end.
