I've just checked and he spent £70m in the summer. Torreira, Sokratis, Leno and Guendouzi, plus Lichsteiner on a free.
To be fair I think it says as much, if not more, about West Ham as it does Arsenal. Pellegrini seems to be getting it right.
All decent players. Got no problems with those transfers. It wasn’t ever going to be sorted out in 1 window either.
He's definitely improving them and getting them playing better football, too. There's plenty of work for him to do on that squad and some areas of obvious weakness, but he seems like a good choice to do it. If they give him time and a reasonable amount of money, then he can push them in the right direction.
They were a class above us at St Mary's last month. Arnautovic apparently wants out though, which will hurt them. PL players are mostly ****s.
Probably not atm. Sokratis was a solid buy though, he’s good enough but without wanting to make excuses, we lost Koscielny and Holding and then Bellerin and Monreal to injury. That’s basically our starting back 4 right there. Torreira was a decent buy and so was Guendouzi at £3m and not sure what Leno can do with that calamity of a defence in front of him. The problems lie in other areas though. Xhaka isn’t good enough, in any position. He makes way too many mistakes to be a DM and he’s not good enough going forward. Ozil has one foot out of the door, Ramsey is as good as gone. Iwobi is okay but has no end product. Kolasinac is average. We’ve got two great strikers, but a weak team behind them.
It's a bit crap when one of your star players wants to go to China FFS. Anyone would think some of them were on minimum wage...
The most disappointing thing is there doesn't seem to be much change from last season. We're still as inconsistent as ever and even more defensively fragile.
We’d seemed to improve after the first couple of games. But the same old frailities are still there. It’s going to take a while to sort this out. The owner needs to back emery with some cash
