The Gunn change is a surprise. There are lots of young and academy players in that squad, squad looks a little light but hopefully people can take their chances.
I wasn't aware of that. But he'd have always had the second of those two games, given that he was already playing in the cups. So in my book, it's only the Chelsea game which he got (as extra). And he kept a clean sheet. Away to Hazard.

They said that as he was quicker off his line he was suited for the Chelsea game, however I imagine he will be disappointed not to keep his place, however so would McCarthy. The only other logic I see, is that we thought someone was interested in McCarthy and that has now dissipated and would also explain the Forster returning rumours.
Also might have considered putting Alfie Jones on the bench instead of Ramsay as we have no centre backs and two right backs.
Apart from Gallagher on the bench. Surprised to see him there as he still coming back from injury. Bertrand was never going to be ready for this game. Sims, IMO, is the one that will be given a chance to make an impact later on in the game
It’s not just about the scoring. Sam hasn’t played for ages and Barnes didn’t look like the lone striker type to me yet.
I said during the week that I expected Long to start this one, given Gallagher's lack of match fitness. You can't just throw him in from the start in a PL match after such a period out without playing. I would though like to think Gallagher will start against Derby.
