Aye, Sopranos in HD is a winner for me. Got the fancy DVD box-set of it last Chrimbo but will watch it again in HD.

Got Boardwalk Empire Sky+'d for when I get back. Not heard ANYONE say a bad thing about it yet.

It's a great show ... superb acting and a slow build up of storyline (so far) ...

Some of the burds in it are well tasty in the 1920s gear ... sussies!!!

I've seen all of Boardwalk Empire and it is brilliant. It helps if you know some of the famous names from the time as this gives the series a feeling of real authenticity. If you liked The Wire, Deadwood and The Sopranos you will love this show. Great story arcs and interesting believable characters. Later episodes contain graphic sex, violence and language.

I think it is Episode 8 where the Irish immigrants have a "Celtic night", not to be missed, genuinely funny.

If you've not watched it fo yourself a favour, it is outstanding.

A Second season is in the pipeline, maybe more. I can't wait.

    Aye, spot on <ok>

The Sopranos was only really let down by the last 12 episodes apart from that it was impeccable

Got them sitting on the computer ready to watch. I've heard it goes downhill though after Scorseses first episode.

It's not The Sopranos but what is?

It's still superb though and it was David Chase creator of the Sopranos who wrote most of it and thought of the show.

Tim B: As for going downhill after the Scorsese opener , that's just not true, I feel it gets better and better with each episode, I watched it all in about 8 days. It's a slow burner which is mostly dialogue driven like the best TV and movies imho.

It did near the end, Vito etc, but the last few episodes were amazing, you literally feel everything coming to an end.

The Sopranos was the best TV show ever. It was in essence a Soap Opera, although you would not think so beacuse of the subject matter.

I'll give it a shot Lucifer. I agree with you about dialogue heavy shows. You might like to give Terriers a try. Just been cancelled, but 13 cracking episodes.

Another show I need to catch up on. Watched the first ep and liked it. Don't want to bog this thread down with recommendations, but if you like your American comedy, try Parks and Recreation.
