We should never be complacent about any game, but I don't understand why there's so much apprehension about this one. One defeat against the champions and suddenly we're rattled?
Palace beat city at the Etihad and city beat Liverpool there too. Argument is totally irrelevant. No easy game in the premiership, Statistics: Brighton have lost their last six in all competitions against Liverpool. Head to Head: Played 28 Brighton wins: 4 Liverpool wins 16 Draw:8
Nether am I . The slight anxiety is based on what the result would mean. A win means we are back on tract. Any other result including a draw will mean the whole media clamouring that the wheels have come off, 3 matches without a win and the slide has begun. And everyone will be talking about the manager and player of the month being the usual jinxes.
There's always a slight anxiety anyway, because no game in the PL is a guaranteed win. I'm just puzzled by the number of people who appear to think we're going through some sort of crisis. It was the first league game we've lost, but it was against City and we were hardly overwhelmed. Unless the players themselves have been influenced by this nervousness this should be no more difficult than any other game we've faced against mid-table opposition this season.
We are not going through a crisis. We are in control and I am sure some people will try to make it into one. If we win everything will be forgotten and we are on schedule to win the title. If we don’t then they’ll drag that wolves match into the equation.
No doubt, but the cup game is irrelevant. Whether we agree with the attitude or not, we clearly weren't bothered about that game and it has no bearing on our league performances. We may have to shield the RCB spot a bit, but I see no reason for the attack to do anything other than its usual thing. We should score enough to compensate for a slight weakness in defence. We should have most of the possession, as usual, and most of the game will be played in Brighton's half - so we only need to guard against the odd breakaway.
Going to be tough as no team is a pushover on their home turf. After the FA Cup debacle we need to regain confidence
