From the BBC website... Police in Las Vegas have issued a warrant for a DNA sample from Cristiano Ronaldo as part of their investigation into the rape allegations made against the Juventus forward. The 33-year-old's lawyer, Peter S. Christiansen, told BBC Sport it was a "very standard request". Absolutely....a very standard request....perfectly routine....if the authorities have reasonable grounds to believe that you've committed rape.

Teddy Sherringham on Harry Winks 'You only have to look at the way Harry Winks has made an impact. He reminds me in so many ways of Michael Carrick. He is probably that bit more mobile but he has the same impact and influence as Carrick. If you watch, he takes the ball on the half-turn. He can see everything around him — in front, behind and to the sides. Carrick was like that. It was Pochettino who spotted that ability and he was not afraid to give Winks a chance in the first team, and he is not the only youngster to be given his chance by Pochettino'.
Sorry, but (at the moment) Winksy is no Carrick. Not even close! Not a pop at Teddy or the lad, just a reality check.
That's an opinion SotM obviously Pochettino disagrees with your assessment of Winks and that's some serious opposition.
I'm a fan of Winks, but I don't think that the Carrick comparison is particularly accurate. They're not that similar in style, for me. Winks is more mobile and plays better further up the park, making quick passes and moving to receive the ball again. Carrick was a deep-lying playmaker, who ran the game with a great range of passing while shielding the defence. We don't have someone like him at the moment.
Poch isn't the one drawing a parallel with Carrick - that's Teddy. I'm not criticising Winks either, but Carrick was in a different class and as PnP points out, not playing the same role.
Not atm but I think he has the potential to be a playmaker but I agree the defence shielding role is not very effective and that's what we are missing.
I think that we'd be better off developing Winks in a more advanced role, perhaps as cover and competition for Eriksen. His performances are a bit hit and miss at the moment, but I think that's largely down to things that he can't do a lot about. He's gone from being out injured for ages to playing every game, the roles he's being asked to do keep changing and we don't have a holding player.
I’m not sure he’s got the same goal threat or ability to operate at the same level in the final third as Eriksen to be honest. I’m a big advocate of his (though I’m coming to see DH’s point of view on him more) but his strengths don’t match up completely to what we’ve been asking him to do for much of this season, like you say. Winks is at his best in midfield alongside someone more physical to balance him out. I also think he looks a lot better in European games or in Internationals where you get a bit more time on the ball, PL games have a much higher intensity which he finds it harder to deal with. He lacks the physicality of a Dembele or Toure, or the elite technical ability of a Modric or Rakitic. But he’s still an intelligent, handy player to have in the squad and although he’s far from perfect his flexibility in that midfield has been a real asset for us this season, as we’ve been so plagued by injuries to other players.
I find it impossible to assess his goal threat, as he's rarely anywhere close to a shooting position in the current system. He seems to have been tasked with something like Dembele's role, picking up the ball deep and moving it forward. It does mystify me at times, as he ends up behind every outfield player as we play out from the keeper.
He is far more determined in the tackle than Eriksen is, without being on the same level technically. Modric was/is deceptively slight of build but very effective in the tackle. Winks has often come on and shaken a certain lethargy from the team and that's a very useful attribute. He was more impressive before injury when most of us were praising his simple but effective ability to keep the game and the ball moving, more in the manner that Lazio tried to get Gazza to play (mistakenly in my view). Not so clever as Eriksen or Modric, not so robustly as Dembele or Wanyama but nevertheless providing a very useful link up role feeding our creative front players and raising the tempo of the game.
