Murray loses to Medvedev in Brisbane. Edmonds out also. Going to be very hard for Andy to work his way back into form at his age. Hope he gets an Indian summer before retiring.

I'm pretty sure that this year is a farewell year for Andy which is such a shame. Hopefully he'll then work with Kyle to make him a No 1 player...

Luckily that last rule is an optional local rule which I believe many clubs won't be putting into practice. Even the way you described is encouraging cheating.

I read this on the BBC website. The question is, will he even go ahead with his match in Melbourne, because the way he is talking he is unlikely to get past the journeyman that is Agut. In his prime, Agut would have been fortunate to get win more thatn a handful of games against Murray.

At a playing level, Andy Murray has nothing to prove. Is it really worth a token appearance? These are the questions for him to answer.

Sad, but not unexpected, news about Murray. He has missed several years of playing at his peak. On the positive side he has achieved so much, including winning Wimbledon twice, Olympic medals and helping GB win the Davis Cup. He will no doubt move into encouraging young players. Good luck, Andy...been great to watch you.

Just seen Murray crying at a press conference because he admits that he struggles to put on his socks and shoes because of the pain. He should retire now...not worth it. Better to be fit enough for the rest of your life.

Oh God, really? Poor Andy. I agree with Ides, he should forget the Aus Open and see if he can make an appearance at Wimbldeon but I somehow doubt that even that will happen.

With a young family and at this stage of a stellar career, being able to play with his children is more important.

I'll miss you, Andy and THANK YOU!!

Also played, held his own, and beat the best group of male players to pick up a racket, great respect for him, and good luck for whatever the future holds.

Johanna Konta taken second set to equalise in match against Muguruza in Australia. It is 2.30 am local time...amazed you can play a sports match at that time. Must play hell with your body clock.

Tsitsipas v Federer. If the Young Greek comes through this, and I expect him to, then of the old guard there could be only Nadal and Nishikori left for the last 8 as Djoko will have his work cut out playing Medvedev. We have Tiafoe progressing and maybe Zverev so perhaps we are looking at a new Champion in a week's time. It will be refreshing for the men's game. As for the ladies, vamos Sloane!!!

How ironic it would be if Tsitipas won the Mens' Singles title in the city with the biggest Greek population outside Greece,

Is age beginning to catch up with Federer and Serena Williams? It seems they can win opening sets, but as their younger opponents get the feel of the match the momentum switches.

Serena's power managed to see her through in the end but that was close for her.

Is Jamie Murray the top doubles player in the world? Doing well with Soares in the Mens' and with Mattek-Sands in the MIxed. I'd have him in any doubles team. It is good to see British players doing well in doubles, as those of us who have played club tennis are more tan likely to have played doubles than singles and can appreciate the art, quickness of reaction and thinking that is involved.

Djokovic through after a tough 4 setter. I think he was concerned playing Medvedev after the same player put him to the sword in Paris back in October. As for the expected breakthrough from Zverev, well throwing "toys out of the pram" doesn't help. Whereas Djokovic can reassert himself after trashing his raquet, Zverev has yet to manage this particular aspect of his game.
