Well, whoever said this meeting would be exactly like the last couple hit the nail on the head. To be honest, if it hadn't been for Jim White suddenly shouting the takeover was a couple of days away, we wouldn't have expected otherwise. Given that Jim now effectively has a lot of egg on his face, it would be informative to say the least if he revealed who sold him this particular bundle of cloth, but as a journalist, I doubt he would want to be seen to be throwing his sources under the car, no matter how foolish they have made him look. There will be other days, and it's only little Charlton. And while I cannot be bothered to trawl through the minutes of last nights meeting, the salient details seem to be there WAS some sort of video conference monday night, which revealed some minor stuff. Everyone is still dragging their feet, the EFL are still missing vital documents, and basically it looks as if the club released the JW story in order to light a fire under the British and European bids as the Aussies contiue to dawdle. Thank god the team are doing so well. Just to add to the list of those who are still calling the shots correctly, Angel Dust over on ITTV keeps his eye on the ball as far as I can see. He posts little, but maybe because there is little actually happening worthy of note. And he doesn't dig out other people posting updates when their info differs from his. Doucher also gets a thumbs up - he got pelters on CL for implying the takeover was nowhere near ready when others wanted it to be so, and I've seen very few acknowleging he was much nearer to the truth than the imminent crowd.
Regarding Jim White’s reputation...Gordon Brown’s famous remark to Tony Blair springs to mind. “There is nothing you can say that I will ever believe again”.
So, in a nutshell, there has been no take-over progress since the last fans' forum meeting. Everything Jim White said was fake news. What a muppet. No credibility left at all, just like his great buddy Roland.
It wasn't just JW though, the staff at Charlton were told before Christmas that the take-over was likely to go through pretty quickly. Where Jim White was wrong was that as a journalist he should have double checked his source before going public.
This latest flurry shows just what a strange person Roland is. He is attempting to achieve a sale at his price by basically playing silly buggers. Publicly humiliating Jim White is a nasty little trick to play. The fact that the staff were told to expect the take-over points to Roland being the source, and I also believe the£70m quote leak, despite de Turkey's denial. We are up against a madman.
White has apparently admitted that he over-egged it because "he wants to give Charlton fans hope". Oh dear.
