That's a nice thought WJ...but I believe on this occasion Michael Gove would be able articulate the reality better than I.
He doesn’t cost us anything til he plays. I thought it was a punt worth taking, but it was always a huge risk to assume we would have the player he once was ready for January, if ever. My take was he needed to be treated as a wild card... plan for him never coming good and take it as a pleasant bonus if he does. The club rhetoric seems to have assumed he would be available by jan, which if true, was naive... and that he would help cover saiz’ ‘expected drop in form when the whether got cold. Samu had other ideas about how to handle the weather getting cold.
Didn’t Cellino claim we had a gentleman’s agreement to take Bartley for 2m after his loan spell... and Swansea reneged on it based on the fact that a) there was no such agreement, b) to paraphrase Sam Goldwyn, such an agreement wouldn’t be worth the paper it’s written on anyway c) no legal authority would uphold the notion of Cellino being described as a gentleman.
Fair enough, but what happens if our medical team spend all season getting him fit enough to only start next year. Do we get to keep him then??
Does anyone know what finally happened regarding Cellino's multiple court cases in Italy ? Just interested as it would be an indicator (as if one was needed) as to whether we are treated equitably by the EFL.
Well that would depend how good our contracts team is! Think it was a season long loan with any fee/wages deferred until he’s picked.
He's got more chance of being carted off by the undertakers than making an appearance on the pitch. In fact vultures have been seen circling above his treatment table
Yes, as a settlement it was agreed by the Italian Courts and the EFL that Leeds were not to be awarded a penalty for at least two years. Not sure how that panned out though
