Forest, promoted in 3rd 76-77 then won the league 77-78, then European cup 78-79.

    a) that is amazing and wins

    b) I was responding to a comment that the press thought Wolves were the possibly the best promoted side "since the start of the Premiership". Like I say, the press have short memories.

Plus, in case this passed anyone by. I'm a Newcastle fan responding to a Sunderland fan pointing out how my team did better than this supposed best promoted team - probably by some margin.

Arsenal probably could’ve got Ramsey to stay if they hadn’t given Gollum £350k a week. Most of their good players now, especially long serving ones, are gonna want a massive pay hike otherwise they’ll feel neglected by the club.

    Silly goons.

That £350k contract was a mistake, as (1) He's not worth it and (2) Like you say it gives other players (or their agents) room to barter up their salaries. I'm not sure there really is much of a problem with the latter to be honest. But there's certainly a hole in our finances as a result and due to not having CL football. Apparently we can only make loan signings this window due to being skint, which is a ridiculous position to be in. The only silver lining to this scenario is that the people who got us into this mess, have now left the club and we have a new structure in place.

I don’t even know what possessed your board to do it either. No one came in for Ozil, he had zero interest (unless I missed something?) so it's not as if the deal was bettering an offer he’d already received elsewhere yet he’s still managed to bend you lot over a table and bag a crazy deal.

Yeah Brunel Gooner was talking about your finances on our board the other day. Crazy how a couple of seasons outside the CL can really **** up a club. Think he said the club were expecting a projected £70m loss or something, though don’t quote me on that, can’t rememebr exactly the figure but it didn’t look good.

I think the club were scared that he'd run down his contract and go on a free otherwise. That sort of mismanagement was going on for years at Arsenal and Wenger, Dick Law and Ivan Gazidis have to take the lions share of the blame there. Hopefully the Ramsey scenario is the last of that ****, as we've now got a whole new team in place with regard to buying and selling players and contracts etc.

As for the CL money, yep without a sugar daddy then being out of the comp really hits your finances hard, especially when you've got a big wage bill to service. We've got some new commercial contracts coming online this summer, so we should be able to operate fairly normally again this summer, but we really need to get back into the top 4 and CL to attract the right players.

It could be 2-3 seasons before this new project of ours sees any fruition.

  11. Durham and Gough were discussing this, on their show tonight.

They had disgruntled Gooners ringing in to slag off the club's board for having given Popeye that contract. One Gooner rightly said that it could cripple Arsenal's transfer policy for the next decade.

Isn't it a delicious irony, that Gooners used to slate us and Levy for our wage policy! One Gooner who rang in - and he sounded incredibly pissed off - admitted that Arsenal got it horribly wrong and Levy was right all along.

Arsenal is now seen as a stepping stone club for every mercenary out there, except that Arsenal can no longer afford them!
    <laugh>

    Happy days!!

Problem for them at the moment as well is that Ozil doesn’t seem Emery’s most favourite player. So that will only create more problems. One being key players will eventually wanna be earning parity/ significantly improved terms as I’ve already stated but then the other is that if Arsenal/ Emery decide that trying to shift Ozil on would be beneficial, they’re ****ed if they think teams are gonna be offering a decent fee and the willingness to match/ better his wages, no one wanted him when he was potentially free, they definitely won’t now.

Every club that isn't Barcelona or Real Madrid is a stepping stone club.

  14. Yep.

Hence the reason why Alli the Gooners who rang in tonight were so pissed off.

Fair enough. I wouldn't mind seeing Tottenham win the league to be honest, they remind me a bit of us under Bobby Robson, some good English players in there playing quality attacking football. Ultimately I suspect they will win the league the same number of times though.

Too late in my humble opinion. Had the chance after they finished third in a tow horse race after getting trashed at yours last game of the season. Everybody could see that squad needed two or three marquee signings to jump to the next level but we are talking about a mediocre club where profit comes before achieving. Ship has sailed, they will always be bridesmaids.

You may prove to be correct, he's been sound so far with myself and it's only fair to take people how i find them but I'll take your comment on board.

In a genuine football question, what area or player(s) do you think Tottenham would need to make the next step?
