Agent quote today: “With Newcastle, I spoke about the player’s salary, but the club needs to raise their offers with Atlanta if they want to get the player. “If Newcastle raises their offers, they could be one of the clubs (to sign Almiron), but there are other clubs. There are clubs from England, Germany, Italy and Spain that are interested in Miguel Almiron, but we aren’t going to rush things.” So sounds like transfer fee is holding it up to me, not said they've agreed the wages etc but equally hasn't said we haven't but categorically we are obviously low-balling again. Likely to lose out to any of the other interested clubs as it sounds like he's pretty sought after.
I was under the impression that terms with the player had been agreed and it was just the transfer fee but Atlanta have already signed his replacement so probably why we are low-balling it
Myth: Newcastle are seriously interested in signing Almiron Fact: A 15 year old part-timer, who is too ugly and pimply to be rude to customers at Sports Direct, is busy playing Football Manager in a deep dark cupboard somewhere and Almiron turned out ok in 2024 so, as Mike's chief scout the next step was to check the Wikipedia page. After that they googled Atlanta and sent an email to the gift shop of numerous higher profile Atlanta based sports teams, before finally sending one to the "soccer team". Automated reply says they will respond in 5-6 business days, but that the smallest shirt size is XXL. Myth: Newcastle have agreed transfer fee but are struggling with personal terms. Fact: Newcastle are waiting for another 4 days til they get a response from the Atlanta club shop. Mike is interested in the XXXL shirts available. Myth: Newcastle have agreed personal terms with the player but have yet to agree a fee with the club, with Atlanta wanting £30mil. Fact: I watched this kid on YouTube (so a lot more due diligence than anyone at our club). I almost made it half way through the video. What I got from it was that this lad is short/average height, fairly slight, misses penalties, prefers to shoot rather than assist, has a small turn of pace compared to a cart-horse, and generally looks like an average MSL player. So obviously £30 mil player.... Call this kid Perez and I'm not sure I'd notice a difference.
Why are we even discussing it. There is no way in a month of Sunday’s Ashley is spending that sort of . We are wasting our breathe.
£8 million apart apparently - which is roughly 150% of what we have offered if they are after £25m as suggested....33% reduction against the asking price looking at it from their point of view - ironcially enough a bit like offering £200m for a product an owner values at £300m . Will will increase our offer by an additional 50% of the current offer? I doubt it! Also says to me Ashley is TRYING not to break the transfer record of £16m, or if he is prepared to, by only the odd million pounds here or there - which lets face it if he does will be paraded as some type of world record, heroic attempt from the medias darling Ashley to drag us out of trouble.
Report that Mitrovic is subject to a £50m bid from China. Only the S*n so questionable, but I'd imagine Fat Mike laps up anything the red tops say - he's gonna be proper P*SSED at this loss of money. Another £30m he could have paid himself? He could buy Evans Cycles.
