I know it's only the 9th today, but why do I get the feeling that this January window is all going to go tits up again?
Not sure about that. We bought from the Championship in the summer in Murphy, Reid. Smithies and Cunningham and have not had any real success with them. The Prem is a much tougher league and any Championship purchases would be a big gamble unless they have prior Prem experience, e.g. Rodriguez and Phillips at West Brom. The same could apply to foreign imports unless they play or have played at the top level in the major European leagues. I'm sure we will get some but really don't want to leave it to the end of the window.
WoL says Wigan in for Pilks. A better move than Ipswich for him. At least Wigan have points on the board and a chance of staying up.
Maybe we're being used, but it's up to us to take advantage and do the business................. http://sportwitness.co.uk/player-revalued-cardiff-city-suggestion-summer-exit-expected/
Just what is going on behind the scenes........... http://sportwitness.co.uk/sneaky-warnock-cardiff-manager-holds-meeting-agent-target-game-tuesday/
funny you should say that>>>.I know a local character by the name of mal pipe, he`s drinking man and a bit of a pain on times but is harmless violence wise........well he named his son Dwayne..............I know its not a lot of use 2 the transfer thread partly because he`s fking rubbish at football.
At least he's not just accepting things and rolling over. Not sure I want a player who doesn't want to be here though.
Interesting that Willy McKay was reported to be with him. Big time Wheeler Dealer agent who tends to get deals done. Aren't his twin sons Jack and Paul McKay on the books of City? Think they came from Leed's academy a year or so back from memory.
I saw that. Suggests they are serious. Remember twin lads coming from Leeds. Didn't know of any relationship. Need to get one across the line soon.
I'm still not convinced that £25m on a French League player is worth a "punt". Granted, he's Argentinian.. Perhaps he can have a word with Lionel and get him on board
The decent players do well in the Championship for the simple reason the average players are just that. Once they step up to the PL very few are instant successes. Take Murphy and Madisson. Playing for the same team last season and sold to PL for big money, but now quite a way apart in standard. I’d be very wary of getting anyone in from the championship now. Only reason would be to strengthen the squad for a championship season if we drop down. Plus we have too many championship quality players as it is (which is a major reason for our league position) plus the better ones are overpriced.
Pilks now confirmed gone as well................ https://www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/news/2019/january/club-statement-anthony-pilkington-departs/
so that's him gone permanently. Good luck to him. Helped us get promoted with the odd cameo. quite liked him as a player and think he'd have suited colin's 433 as a wider player rather than a no 9 where he was played last season. When he joined he started on the wing didn't he?
Indeed he was remote - came to us from Norwich as an out and out wide man but was also a bit of a sicknote at the time as well. So that's just two sicknotes left to go now - Jazz and Ken.
colin saying they haven't found players better than a fully fit Ken is all fine and dandy, and may well be true, but my 89 year old mother is better than him when he's sat in the physio's room.at least she'll stroll around a bit. Bonkers statement.
Agree - I can't believe that. If we can't find anyone better than Ken out there, then we're looking in the wrong places with inadequate funding. I'm increasingly getting the feeling that although Warnock is taking all the flak, the real obstacle is the approved funding. If not the actual transfer fees, particularly with regard to stumping up the contract wages that likely targets and their agents would expect and probably demand. Possibly a good thing in one way not to upset those already at the club, but a degree of realism has to creep in here if we're really going to go for this.
Good luck to Pilks. Glad he didnt go to Ipswich. Theyll be in League 1 next season and Pilks is far better than that. Personally with Madine gone id have kept him until we get someone in. If we get no one then we will be short as I cant see Ward and Ken staying fit. Saying that id rather sign nobody than overpay for someone from abroad who doesnt want to be here.
