Tactics can be spot on and luck then goes against you. A shot gets a wicked deflection, opponent scores a worldy, ref gives a penalty when there was no foul etc.

Agree with all that. Having a player like Kane massively increases the chance of winning but individual games still depend on luck. Morata wasn't playing though.....

Are we counting that as "luck" on Chelskys' side ?? :)

I meant in the league game. It was very far from obvious. They couldn't pick him again after that, he was offside more than Jermain Defoe in a season.

They should have got Giroud on at half time or well before they did. Maybe he's not got half an hour or more in him yet? I bet he plays at SB.

Genuinely believe so. Been worse than the FBs and Hugo in my opinion, those haven’t been great by any means (I may even revisit my numero uno thread, Gazza just keeps on impressing and would be interesting to see if any views have now changed as he’s kept clean sheets against both Arsenal and Chelsea now) but ultimately I feel Winks has been consistently poor and carried by Sissoko in pretty much every game. Winks for me is a dead weight on the side.

We'll continue to disagree for now. He's not leapt forward from his better performances last season but that's the way of young players. Some players take more time than others. Danny Rose was mercilessly criticised for his performances pre-2015/16.

I agree that Moussa Sissoko puts him in the shade but right now, I'd vote him my POTS, so that's not surprising.

I wonder...….if Ericson goes to Real, will he be allowed to disappear in games?

I also read that Modric may go to Inter (?????).

Only if they win those games 7-0.
When they draw/lose or only scrape wins, then their supporters go
full plastico looking for scapegoats (ask Modric and Bale) .

"I also read that Modric may go to Inter (?????)"

Rumours, but if there is mileage in them I would like Spurs to be
putting in a bid to bring him back.

Sadly, I can't see him leaving Spain to come back to the rigours of the PL, no matter who with.

Italy's offering mad tax breaks and he could extend his career by a season or two.

Unfortunately, he'll be in chokey or Italy next season.

If it meant 60 mins max, every other game at best, I would still do it.

as a kid back in 1981 I was a shelf side boy but with my girls I always tried for park lane whenever possible cos they loved being behind the goal...the park lane shelf side chant is always a favourite!

Shelf side if at all possible. Was one of those responding to you Park Lane types from block 231 Club Wembley, don't you know?

Last night, during half time, I had the joy of Mrs B telling our daughter about the good old days, standing at football. I was a very proud Brian.

So why wasn't that Christensen foul on Son VAR'd, then? Oliver utterly bottled that. Thought he was awful throughout.

Literally gave us nothing. Laughably inept, if it wasn't all coming up against us.

Given the non-fouls he awarded against us for their players falling over, it looked like a performance from 15-20 years ago or when we played Madrid and Barcelona.

If they'd been playing Burnley or Cardiff, he'd have sent off half their players on the basis of totting up fouls over the 90 minutes.

I'd suggest we have what a lot of posters wanted, a real competition between keepers, and that it's been an important factor in the good season we've been having so far.

  17. By a country mile. He has an incredible engine - all over the pitch - back defending around RB area then a few seconds later around inside left (old money). Seldom puts a foot wrong and plays some great incisive passes. And still an absolute beast! He actually misplaced a pass last night and I was totally shocked! How expectations change

Utter Y-word "hit piece" on Spurs right now on BBC London.
I may not reply (as I could put my fist thru the screen as a result) ...

They always omit the 'A', 'H' and 'G' words in these pieces....maybe they think Chelsea 'fans' are debating their history theses when they chant about Hitler, Auschwitz and the like?

We don`t play in a red shirt, if that was a Pool player, Oliver would have been quick to give something in their favour guaranteed. Oliver has this reputation of being a top class referee, I fail to see it, he`s bang average and appears to favour certain clubs.
