Saints travel to the King Power Stadium on Saturday to resume the battle for survival in the Premier League. This match promises to be a bumper goal-fest, the 3 previous meetings between the sides in all competitions at Leicester being 0-0 draws. We have to go back to 3rd April 2016 for the last occasion when the Foxes beat Saints at home, just before they were crowned Premier League Champions. So the King Power hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for Saints in recent years, we haven’t won there since 1st December 2007! Things can change though. Leicester, under former Saints boss Claude Puel, are struggling to find form at the moment, having lost 2 of their last 3 matches, while Saints are surfing a wave of success with 2 successive draws. Saints are still without captain Pierre-Emile Højbjerg (suspended) and strikers Michael Obafemi and Danny Ings (hamstrings), while Maya Yoshida is away at the Asia Cup with Japan. We may well see further involvement from the Academy: Callum Slattery made an excellent debut against Derby in midfield, while Marcus Barnes might emerge at some point to make his first appearance. Saints need at least a point from this but a victory would be one step closer to survival. Officials: Referee: Michael Oliver Assistants: Simon Bennett, Mick McDonough Fourth official: David Coote
Phew! A decent referee for a change Gunn Valery Bedders Stephens Vestergard Targett (Bertranc) JWP Romeu Armstrong Barnes Redmand Subs: McCarthy, Cedric, Klarer, Lemina, Slattery, Austin, Long
I’m glad you’ve included Klarer, I like what I’ve seen of him, admittedly only on live Facebook streams. I would think that Alfie Jones will probably appear before Young Christoph does, but you never know!
Gunn; Bednerak, Stephens, Vestergaard; Valery, Romeu, JWP, Targett; Redmond, Austin, Armstrong. Macca, Ramsay, Soares, Lemina, Slattery, Long, Gallagher.
Exactly what I would go for. I like @Dark Lord SFC team, but a bit too much inexperience in there. Maybe Bertrand for Targett if fit, though Targett has done no wrong.
All the players back fresh you pick you'd best team... I feel Austin could be used yo for at least 45, and when they tire, SL will be more effective esp if chasing the game.
I'd argue that Chaz wouldn't offer that much more coming on later, The Cbs will match him physically, nd still catch him for speed even at that part of the game.
But if we get that late, late chance then I'd always fancy Charlie to bag it ahead of Shane. If we're chasing a goal then the other team are probably sat back a bit making Shane pretty useless imo.
If we are chasing it tho I don't see any striker scoring, Not just SL! In all seriousness tho, I just think we start games alot stronger, Nd u would get Austin would be more clinical for that.
Thats why Berty is in brackets but not seen anything of him in the training photos so assume he is still laid up
hangry saints Speaking of Leicester I am going to my first rugby match soon Northampton Saints (the other saints) v Leicester Tigers - Sat 26 Jan
