tbh if you get 100m plus for a guy in his last year you'll have done amazing. You could reinvest this like pool have to get stronger.

It would be a wrench to see Eriksen leave but honestly given there is probably very little we can do to stop him (based on the fact that he’s said in the past he has a plan for his career I’m not sure him staying is purely a matter of money on the table) I think this would be a fantastic outcome for us if it were to happen. It is the Fail though so an ocean of salt is required with this one.

Saltypool got £49m for Sterling when he was in the last year of his contract, and that's when £40m+ transfer fees weren't something clubs shrugged at the thought of

Pool got lucky with the Coutinho money though, they'd already signed Salah in the summer and then Coutinho left in January. By this time, Salah was already becoming top dog in such a short space of time. They were able to use that Coutinho money on other areas of the squad and didn't need to actually replace him thanks to the new 4-3-3 they were playing with Salah, Firmino and Mane up top.

If we lose Eriksen we'd have to replace him as we don't already have someone like Salah who'd make Eriksen's loss easy/ easier to take - and so replacing him would cost a similar amount of money to what we'd sell him for if we wanted a like for like - and then it wouldn't leave us with much left in the pot anyway.

    agreed but:

    1. City are nuts and needed to spend (unlike now where they have quality in 2 positions)
    2. Sterling was 19 and looked as someone they would have for another 10+ years whereas eriksen is 26
    3. English to English club transfer tax
    4. Home Grown English Tax
    5. City got super ripped off

Guess that's the decision you have to make. You might not replace eriksen and if he doesn't sign the contract you run the risk of him leaving for free (i can't see Levy letting that happen). It might end up in a stale mate and it could get fractious ala Ramsay at the goons and if it ends up like that there would be no going back and every man and his dog will want Eriksen on a free.

It'll probably be the reason we sell Hazard because he'll be on his last year if he doesn't sign up soon

This would be the best outcome in terms of selling Eriksen.

Priority for me is to keep him above anything else but if we're forced to sell, getting money and Isco would be the next best thing.

Thought Eriksen has Barca as the apex club he wants to join.
    50m + Messi : done.

Oh we'll sell him in the summer if he hasn't committed, I think that's inevitable. The hope I have though is that we persuade him to stay. Keeping Eriksen is more important to Spurs' hopes than any amount of money we'd get for him. He's a ****ing magician and I can't think of a player out there who's on a par with him that we could sign. The Madrid cash plus Isco deal that HBIC mentioned is the best alternative but for as much as I rate Isco, I'd rather have Eriksen any day of the week. Our best player in my eyes.

That avenue appears to be closing rapidly, with Rabiot already signed and De Jong looks set to follow

Looks like talent hoarding has an upside...
    On the other hand
    1. Eriksen's 26, which means he's in his prime - in other words that's a lot more up front and a lot less in clauses
    2. Given the scale of the number we did on Los Ladrones over the Bale transfer, if they play silly buggers a second time the ST/\DIUM will be paid for by the Spanish taxpayer
    3. With Barca confirming Rabiot (and De Jong seems to be most of the way done) it's obvious that FC Franco need to buy, and couple this with their lack of Galactico hoarding in recent seasons we would certainly be in a position to dictate terms

After the Bale saga, the thought of selling further key talent
to those vermin makes me nauseous.

Perhaps I could just about stomach a deal that involves
Modric returning + cash or Isco.

One thing i would say is, they have Modric (33), Kroos (29), Casemiro (26) and Isco (26). I'm sure they would love another midfielder in there to replace Modric but they have a greater need up front Bale (29, permanantly crocked), Benzema (31 and going downhill) and Asensio (22) as the regulars.

If i had to put money on a marquee signing this summer it'll be made up front rather than in midfielder although i'm not going to discount them signing more than 1 player

Modric obviously needs replacing sooner rather than later, especially with him being in the last eighteen months of his contract, and it wouldn't surprise me if that's part of the reason Barca have moved to tie up Rabiot and De Jong now

Of course there's the other aspect to consider: Hazard's in the last eighteen months of his Chelsea deal and has resisted any contract offered to him for a while, and it appears he's playing for a big move this summer (a la Suarez in 2013-14 or RVP in 2011-12) so it depends on where Chelsea finish the season, because if they miss out on the CL he'll definitely be forcing a move

    Obvious Bollocks Watch
The Independent have suggested that we're looking at Wolves right back Matt Doherty

The same Matt Doherty who is currently in negotiations with Wolves over a new contract
The same Matt Doherty who recently hired Jorge Mendes as his agent
The same Matt Doherty who plays in the same position as Serge Aurier, Kieran Trippier and Kyle Walker-Peters

So, yeah, that story's complete and utter bollocks - bollocks clearly concocted by Doherty's agent, who is obviously looking for a slightly improved agent's fee

I think he wants to go regardless of what wages we can offer.

Chances to go to Madrid or Barca don’t come along often.

If you can’t tell us who to sign then can you at least tell us who is going to be the NFL team at Wembley?

Oakland need a place to stay

I don't think Spurcat would approve of their fans' matchday attire though...
