Bad news about the Cardiff fan but if it happened so close to the stadium then there should be cameras around to help show the incident! police have already arrested 6 people , yet an "non" eyewitness didnt see any violence! slightly strange dont you think?

Morning all - Fully agree with your comments OFH and until people stopping putting their hands in their pockets, nothing will change. Heard some very interesting stories over the week-end about some of the England players behaviour in SA - they really are an obnoxious bunch and no prizes for guessing who!

FA, FIFA, UEFA, Formula 1, MP's - bunch of crooks the lot of 'em

You've got to love the "olden days".

My smaller half has been looking into her family tree over the past week. She came across the 1891 and 1901 census concerning a distant relative. In the final column of the 1891 census, just after indicating where they were born the individual has to declare whether they are:

    1. Deaf-and-Dumb (as everyone is aware, if your hearing is impaired, so is your cognitive ability)
    2. Blind
    3. Lunatic, Imbecile or Idiot

Fortunately, it is obvious the census creators have become aware of their potentially offensive wording, so by 1901, the individual has the following options:

    1. Deaf and Dumb
    2. Blind
    3. Lunatic
    4. Imbecile, feeble minded

So, rather than be brandished as an idiot, people were now classed with a much softer, almost acceptable term, feeble minded.

Maybe they should bring this detail back in, but instead give the individual the option to label 5 people as a lunatic, an imbecile or feeble minded. I could certainly think of 5, and this would help greatly with the well being of our country.

I was also reading a Chelsea FC program from 1969, and in it was a letter from a fan. He said:

First of all, it is amazing that something so perverse was even published! But, secondly, the publishers obliged his request and printed a picture of 18 year old fashion model, Maureen O'Doherty! It is difficult imagining an 18 year old called Maureen, let alone a "model". Sexy.

It goes on to add that Maureen recently took part in a beauty pageant. She came third, winning £25! Her nemesis, Sylvia, 21 from Nottingham, took top spot, bagging a cool £100.

Thanks Hornette!! Please feel free to tell close friends and business associates about your interest in reading what I write, accompanied with a link to my blog! I am happy to put together a brief PowerPoint presentation if you feel this will help.

I love reading things from recent history. In fact, I have recently acquired 4 Watford FC programs from the early 60's. They are fascinating! It is amazing how much things have changed over such a drastically short period of time! Who would have thought 100 years ago it was considered professional to label someone an idiot? And, that 20 years ago (less for most, I would assume) we got by without the internet.
