We haven't got a proven game changer on the bench and I can't remember an effective attacking substitution this season amongst the City subs who've been used so far.[/QUOTE] Good point Sparks. As far as I can see the only attacking player to have scored when coming on as sub is Harris v Fulham. It could be argued the game was won at 3.2 to us by then. NML has the ability but has been used very sparingly since returning from injury. Several occasions I thought he would come on from the bench when needed but it didn't happen. Even more evidence to show we need attacking additions especially with a greatly reduced wage bill from the exits of Tomlin, Madine and now looking like Pilks. I believe he and Tomlin were on a combined £40k or so per week.
Pity about Zahore as he looked quite good v Man U so hope he’s fit soon. I’ve no faith in Ward. Moses is just not going to happen knowing our track record. Have we ever made a decent January deal? Jon Parkin and Madine are 2 of the worst ever
Sala looks a dead duck from this................. http://sportwitness.co.uk/dont-thin...club-president-refutes-transfer-games-claims/
Looks like a lot of smoke and mirrors to me. Probably trying to drive the fee up. Time to forget and move on.
The only upside of the link with Sala is that the manager rates him and doesn't want him to leave. The downsides seem to be that the owner only wants the dosh from a deal and the player himself doesn't want to come here. The prognosis?.....Fck 'em and walk away. There are plenty out there that would want to come here and clubs that will accept the right offer. Time to stop pissing about and make some bold moves.
I think that's Warnock's job on selling the club and Dalman/Choo's job on making the package attractive enough. Ultimately though it'll be up to Tan to sanction the fee/wages required - that could be the stumbling block.
Not sure if either of these were actual runners in the first place. It appears palace are now interested in niassie. Crystal Palace are interested in Everton and Senegal striker Oumar Niasse, 28. (Evening Standard) Also competition for n'jie Fulham have joined Burnley, Cardiff and Newcastle United in trying to sign Marseille's Cameroon winger Clinton N'Jie, 25. (Mail)
For £20m is this a bad thing? Looking at a player with no Premier League experience, it would have been quite a big gamble in my honest opinion, and lets be fair, we'd all expect him to hit the ground running!
Do you remember exactly this time last year when we were looking for a striker? There were 3 names in the frame and on everyone's lips - Lewis Grabban, Bradley Dack and Gary Madine. We all had our say about the right choice and look what happened.
Maybe I should have suggested, yes there may plenty out there but are they want we need and can we justify spending money on them. A lot of money can be spent on a loan fee and wages or to buy a player with little left on his contract for in effect less than half a season. If we do buy but then get relegated then we’re stuck with new players on possibly a PL contract which the club are striving to avoid. It’s a catch 22 position. Reading between the lines that seems to be the conundrum facing the man with the cheque book. January is a strange window
Contracts can be structured to include a relegation clause which makes dramatic difference (and therefore incentive) to an incoming player. The problem for potential signees is that do they want to join a club on such a contract when there is every possibility that we will go down? It is a very difficult time for clubs who are relegation candidates like us, but we have to be positive about things and take some chances - and that applies to the players as well.
OK. The revolving door has been cranked up to speed but so far people are only travelling in one direction - namely out. Three goal machine Madine off to the Blades. Lee "low ribcage" Tomlin off to Posh. Potentially the lesser spotted Pilks off on a Tractor ride. 3 French League players linked though I suspect we'll miss out on the striker Sala. Should be quite a chunk in wages freed up with the 2/3 outgoings, just hope we do get a minimum of a RB and a striker in!
Now that's just great ................ https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...-Nice-midfielder-Adrien-Tameze-collapses.html
This is a summary of city’s lamentable transfer window so far. It doesn’t look promising https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/state-play-every-player-linked-15644698
