(Boring Japan story alert) In Japan a lot of the bread contains 'stuff'. Most mornings I had bread rolls with curry in them for breakfast. They also do things like sweet potato, sausage, red bean paste, pork cutlet, cod roe etc.
Curry rolls sounds honking. Cod roe - my old dear used to buy that. Sweet potato sausage sounds not too bad.
There was a rinky-dink's in Hitchin that did fish and chips only the fish was coated in breadcrumbs and the chips were of the French Fry type. This came with a slice of lemon and that just went perfectly with that breadcrumb coating.
Sweet potato fries on a sourdough bap with tomato and olive drizzle and pink Himalayan rock salt for this antipodean ponce.
It was, actually. Better than toast or porridge for breakfast that's for sure. Their white bread is really thick too. None of yer mincey medium slice over there.
Was it something like a Bunny Chow that they make in Durban? They hollow out a loaf or roll and put curry in it?
