Some massive over-reactions on here for a game that it's obvious we weren't bothered about. Roll on the weekend.
I understand that, and any other season I'd agree - but this one is different. Ironically, fielding that team last night demonstrated exactly why we should be playing them in the cup - they're not good enough for anything else. Some of the young ones aren't yet ready, and some of the senior ones just don't have what it takes. We see that if we burn out our best, that's all we have to bring in to replace them. Better we realise that now than when it's too late.
Well that was a load of **** and Lovren wants his arse kicking for not warming up properly. He needs to be in the taxi with the rest of the deadwood. As for Sturridge you ****ing lazy Twat, give us your wages back you got them under false pretences! Don't like the idea of not trying to win any competition we go in for, whatever happened to teams doing doubles and triple?Maybe teams should be given the choice not to enter them rather than put out a weakened side.
ffs Jenners would you be calling the FA Cup and Whatever It's Called These Days Cup low priority if we won them? So what you're saying is we can't compete for anything other than the title and the CL. I see now. And by the way, good luck with us winning the latter. We barely scraped through to the knockout stages. Having key players is great while it lasts, but I'll point something else out: they'll go the same way as Torres and Suarez if we win **** all
compared to the title and cl yes. we lost lovren ffs, if that had been vvd we would have been well and trully ****ed. worth it for what we all want that is the holly grail in the title?
Shearer: "I was brought up watching Liverpool trying to win every trophy. Why should that change?" Because there's a team called Man City that spend whatever they feel like on players and then coincidentally receive the same amount in new sponsorship deals, while everyone else whose owners don't also own a major CL TV rights buyer are forced to pay attention to FFP.
Fine line I know but when we have a good team (which we’ve had from time to time over the fallow periods) isn’t it reasonable to try to win other trophies as well rather than focus on the one thing - the holy grail as you call it? One of the best teams we’ve had for decades if not the best. Wouldn’t be good if they won something else if we missed the title?
not all in the same season no. we have injuries and players need resting, we obviously have ****e backup and youngsters not ready yet. you want to risk the chance of us wining the title in however long just to give us a chance of maybe wining the fa cup. big risk if you ask me and one i wouldn't take, title for me, esp this season with us being top of league.
Not if they missed the title because they won something else. The Shearer quote above is disingenuous - football isn't the same as it was when he was growing up. One slip nowadays can make all the difference, as we well know.
You can bitch about the result or you can look at Leicester and how they also threw all other comps and went all out for the league. We have 17 league games and a guaranteed 2 CL games. People need to realize that as much as Klopp has a core of 15 very good players, he still has to shift a lot of deadwood players to upgrade the squad. Just because we are matching City for the league should not give us arrogance to think our squad is better. I believe next season Klopp can upgrade the squad with better players as well as getting AOC fit. If he throws the cup then, you have all right to complain. He is not sacrificing the cup to finish second, he is going all out for the league and the less games to play the better.
I’m sure winning the domestic cups doesn’t help in keeping players at the club. Competing at the top end of the table and in the CL is far more important.
